A change in 'bracketmaster' and the long term future of the 39 bracket.

Boostzau#1966 – Add me! Any and all 39s feel free, I’m hoping to be available to the bracket for any discussion or thoughts you have.

Hey everyone,

So Anatomyz is stepping down as bracketmaster and after speaking to him I’ve decided to enter into that role for the interim. Firstly I’d like to thank Anatomyz for getting the bracket up on 2 legs, he definitely directed the start-up of a bracket and it’s heading in a great direction thanks to him. I do want to voice a slight concern I have in the fact that I am an Oceanic (Australian) and the bracket is obviously primarily US based. Presently that’s not a huge issue, I can make the dates/times set, but in the long run it may require someone based in that timezone. We’ll see.

So, looking forward. I have a few ideas in mind that I believe will be for the benefit of the bracket. The first being based on spec neutering. Obviously the general community isn’t happy with the few people playing ferals in the bracket. We have a good community so 99% of people realize that spec is a particular issue in battlegrounds. However there will always be an individual or two who does not care or respect our pleas to have a certain level of balance in games.

So what I’d like to do is copy the template set by the 29 bracket with the aimed shot ban. Anyone found playing feral as a spec will not receive support from their team, and players on the opposing team will be hunting down that player in games. This may seem harsh, but it was used to great effect in the 29 bracket and lead to better games overall. This is something we need to stomp out before it becomes a recurring issue.

New players into the bracket playing ferals will be given information and warnings about our position concerning the spec.
However, obviously players spent time/gold on their characters. I am aware of the current ferals in the bracket, so I am offering runs/funding if they want it (on their server through battlepet sales) to those few players to respec their druids or start a new 39 toon.

The other slight concern is the slow increase of BM/Enhance in our games. I do not have an answer to that at this stage, but I know the community is considerate enough that it shouldn’t require particular effort to minimize that issue. The imbalance with those specs is also limited to 1 ability. In the case of BM, guard absorb on a dps Brewmaster is quite significant, and in the case of Enhance, stormstrike damage can be overwhelming, especially with other incoming damage. Xenkyro offered a solution in Enhances using daggers to dampen the damage of the spec slightly, but at this stage I don’t think it requires any specific attention. The games just gone I don’t believe there was more than 1 enhance for each team.

My second idea is to help create a new 39 guild on Bleeding Hollow Alliance. At present there are 2 ‘majorly active’ guilds in the form of ‘jcm’ on Sargeras and ‘We cute’ on Bleeding Hollow Horde. However jcm has a horde side guild on their server and while it does not have the strength of their alliance guild, it is slowly gaining characters and has a decent roster at the present. This leaves a nice spot in the form of BH Ally side. It helps cement a possible future hub for 39 recruitment (oh hey recruitment video plug) and new players to the bracket looking for a base to start with.

What I’d like to do with this guild is offer funding/support to current and future players who are not already permanently guilded; that is, already have toon(s) in major 39 guilds. This will be similar to the GG19 project (I’m not original, all my ideas were stolen from somewhere) and assisting people in making new 39s to be part of a guild.

Which leads me to the second part of this idea….HALP! I’m not the richest player to begin with, and a fair amount of my gold was used to help JCM on Horde side. I have about 90k at the moment which I’ll be putting toward this. I would really appreciate any form of support/donations in gold/items/time in getting this off the ground. Battle pets is always the easiest way to get gold to other servers, and doesn’t require any RL money. My hope is in the long run the guild will run itself, I plan to be the temporary gm just to control the gbank, but I will not be running the guild, What would be great is that a few driven players will apply for that position in the long term.

I’ve already written walls and walls so I’ll very briefly touch the last idea that the community would like to start – themed bg weekends. Yes, wsg maps over and over can get stale, so it would be nice to every now and then do something a little different. I still think we are very early into the bracket’s revival to risk nights on alternate bgs, but it’s definitely something I want to introduce in the future.

That’s about it for now, I’ll obviously be more active in my role in the 39 bracket in terms of information and guidance/support in the upcoming months.

Thanks for reading

Long story short, lately my interest in WoW has heavily decreased and as a result I'm not putting nearly as much time as I'd like into helping 39s. On top of that, due to my RL circumstances I'll very rarely be able to make weekday games which is half of the brackets activity currently. I've found myself checking TI less and less as time goes on, and I've kind of realized that with the way things are going I won't be a good "leader" going forward, at least not one that the bracket deserves. That being said, I've asked Boostz to step in for me.

I'm not quitting the game, and I'll still be around the bracket as it's really the only thing left in WoW that I have any interest in at all. Boostz will also be talking to me whenever he needs help/advice in the future. I'm sorry for stepping down after making the commitment to lead, but I just don't think I'm a good fit anymore.

Please support Boostz as much as you can, not just with the leading of the bracket but also with his new project on Bleeding Hollow. He's already come up with some great ideas for helping bracket activity and there's definitely more to come. I think shifting focus to one server as a potential hub is a fantastic idea. It can help give new players a place to go, and hopefully we'll be seeing even more new faces in the bracket as time goes on.

Also just a quick note, I will be starting a thread on the 39 funding project, a community poll for the name of the guild and more information concerning it all later tonight (US).

I disagree with changing the overall gameplay against ferals however I do agree with not supporting / healing the ferals.

I understand that concern but it's good gameplay in general. You usually have 1 rogue/hunter whose role it is to shut down the feral. I was doing that myself in Wednesday's games. You don't need the whole team, just 1-2 players who play a shut down role to that spec.

With no support that feral should be achieving very little.

So you think it's good gameplay that due to a feral being on team B, team A has to suffer from it by being outnumbered in mid due to 1-2 guys going on a feral hunt? How's this healthy for the bracket at all?

The team with the feral should all agree to report the feral afk, we have enough people to play multiple games at once, losing a feral won't hurt the bracket. imo

This would be the ideal result but unfortunately it's not always easy to get a player to be auto kicked. They might just get debuffed in which case they are able to quickly get in combat.

It's 1 player specifically watching out for 1 other player. This is why Rogues are probably the best option. Even if it's a Hunter, it's not like the Hunter can't do anything, he can be in mid fine, just in the back of his mind he's waiting for an eventual feral.

This is just a last resort if the above does not work. I originally didn't mention it because I assumed that was the obvious first step.

Fair enough, i have hope with the resources of the community teamspeak that we can use that to communicate to the other people in the bracket to get it done. the bracket is booming, but it is a tight knit group, so we all either know each other or are mutual friends with a 19-29 tink, but i understand where you come from 100% due to only being able to report some1 afk after gates drop.

just some possibly wrong information, it only takes 6 people to automatically kick some1 due to being "afk". dont quote me on this haha

At present there are 2 ‘majorly active’ guilds in the form of ‘jcm’ on Sargeras and ‘We cute’ on Bleeding Hollow Horde-Boostz

Not sure why me and Shadez are getting no credit for having the truly most active horde guild period. We had 7 queuing on Wednesday. We have 7-10 queuing every Saturday. We have more members then 'we cute'. But apparently we don't kiss enough ass for a mention, ever. by funding over 10 new players with gold and runs. Not to mention we're providing the teamspeak! And both of us are on every night.
I mean 'we cute' can't even fill out the recruitment thread or guild directory on TI. So everyone, we are fucking here!

While I have seen the brbLS tag several times, I was not aware of your overall activity and funding. It wasn't anything nefarious. Glad to hear it.

Either way, the same scenario still applies, there's no (that I'm aware of) Centric ally 39 guild on BH.

Kudos to anatomyx for recognizing his limitations and proactively stepping down. A tremendous thanks to Boostz for stepping up, and I can't think of a better twink for the job. My in-game resources are limited, but do you take Paypal? Time is money, friend.

In regards to banning feral akin to 29s Aimed Shot ban: Everyone GET ON BOARD WITH THIS NOW. That's the only way it works. We have a full day to pass on the message to our compadres. AS ban was slightly easier as the class couldn't just stealth around. However, post 4.0 29s inacted a similar ban on Ambush Rogues. A member of the same faction would be designated the "follower" of the Rogue, detailing them and relaying their position to the other team. The other team recognizes this patterned behavior, and can quickly focus in on the feral, and hopefully ruin their game to the point that they recognize why they are so vehemently despised. This whole process turns out to be a great team building exercise. During this operation, two players from the opposite team must stump-sit. 29 & 39 vets will often request that they be the stump-sitter, as it shows their commitment to the community.

Brewmasters, once the feral ban has caught on in the eyes of the community, you may very well be next. And not just with Guard; Dizzying Haze's duration in PvP is an embarrassing oversight on the part of the Blizzard dev team. Before the chapter closes on Feral, I suggest you BMs self-regulate and STOP using Guard. Perhaps an exception can be made for BMs who FC when there isn't a proper FC in game. Iggzxo & DimeBrew kayooh looking at you (Don't know the TwinkInfo names of Reff, Fàncy, & others).

Hey, I'm all for getting rid of 7k ferocious bites. But coming after BM next isn't the answer! After guard is gone, enhanced becomes the best. Then once you make them use daggers them rogue or whatever becomes best. ..no cheapshots! Personally I've dueled fancy and scope on my brewmaster and there slow is way more fucking annoying and pretty much 100% up time.

dizzying haze i do not mind, but guard should be removed from the bracket, no question. in terms of enh shammies, yes they are a problem, but more than 2 usually is broken. 2 and below can be handled if ideal healer situations happen. so for those who feel a discomfort with the enh shammies, roll a healer, because i promise you. enh shammies are strong INDIVIDUALLY, but can be contained, just to add majority of enh shammies run gc builds making it way easier to land a kill. and if you dont want to die, watch your positioning. download a interrupt/cc tracking addon. and save your d-cd's for when you're healers are cc'd/interrupted. not sure where i stand with rogues, just yet. im on the fence and in the gy when against rogues.

I only play on saturdays normally and have yet to update my warrior so ive just been playing one or two games on my enhance. Im willing to reroll something and become more active in the bracket as long as i dont need too heal!

Great job kicking things off anatomyx and I am certain Boostz will keep things going in the right direction.

As for the feral/guard issue I actually think Donteventrii summed it up pretty well.

Change should come from the top down with players leading by example.
