70 vs 79 in 2019..?

Can anyone explain the exact differences if im looking to pvp 70-79 bracket would it not make more sense to xpoff at 79 and BiS that way? Or do i have to xpoff 70 and BiS with that? I know gems and socket gear come into play around these levels of twinking so I'd rather have proper info before finishing the leveling process on my ret pally.

Hey. Depends what the purpose of your twink is.
If you're just looking to exploit your way into battlegrounds and nothing else - go 79. They are strictly stronger in instanced pvp.
If you want to do literally anything else - go 70. They have an actual community of players (albeit small)

I suppose your next questions would be along the lines of "what do you mean by exploiting my way into battlegrounds?" and "what else is there to do?".
First question first: Twinks and levelers have recently been separated into different brackets, meaning twinks no longer get any bg pops whatsoever. However, there is an exploit that allows you to get into the non-twink battlegrounds as a twink. Blizzard have yet to punish anyone for doing this. You can read about how to do it here.

To answer the latter question: It's going to depend on the region you play in. If you're in north america I can't help you. Maybe @Blackberryy can tell you about the current state of the 70 community over there. If you're playing on the european realms there are a few regular activities that you can take part in if you're level 70. I can PM you a discord invite if that sounds interesting

As Dreams said 79 is obviously better than 70 for pvp. But 70 raids on us happen weekly proggression wise and 70 community is just over all stronger than 79s.

Semi irrelevant but is the xpoff vs xpon applied to Arenas as well? and if so do you just use the same macro exploit?

They are separated there as well. U can macro for both arena and Bgs, not sure how long this will stay up.

in addition to what has been said above by everyone else, different classes have different abilities attained at different lvls, if there is a crucial ability that must be attained beyond lvl70, then you have to lvl up to get that ability, if there are no critical abilities then you have the option of either 70 or 79

I still can't understand the thought process behind making level 70s, unless it's just like a bandwagon thing. If these kids want a large level 70 raiding community why not just play Netherwing private TBC server? Maybe they don't know about that. But honestly, if you think about the definition of "twink" there is no such thing as a "level 70 twink"

The idea is most of us have had the toons from back when the cap was 70 or before they had a wotlk account to level passed 70. People prefer 70 over 79 because the majority of original twinks in this bracket are 70, and 70s can raid together, do dungeons etc along with pvp. Sure 79 is stronger, but I’m not leveling an 11 year old toon to gain a bit of power?? Also I think new players choose 70 because they like the community and players and are interested in the content. Also, raiding on retail at 70 is preferred by some people that a. Don’t want to play private servers and b. Like the idea of just having an alt toon to play on in the bracket and realize there is more 70s than 79s

believe it or not there actually is a pve side of min maxing and twinking, after lvl 60 the bracket dynamic changes to "what level has the most stuff to do". as for why we dont play private servers, most of those suck tbh. its also not about having an authentic experience, but rather keeping the community we have built over may years.
