69 rogue gear..

Whaty

OG
  • Well I have a 69 twink rogue (or what was twinked a year ago), and I was just wondering if anyone could possibly make a chardev or something with BiS gear? I know the stuff I have probably isn't BiS anymore. I'd give you a link to armory, but he's been inactive for too long and doesn't show up..

start using wowhead profiler if chardev is still not working...

Compare this link: The World of Warcraft Armory - Moltie @ Krag'jin - Profile

Atm my rogue is equiped with mixed gear to get the balance between dmg and health. Thats perfect for funny WSG's.

But I'm working on dmg gear - that means same gear but only agi gems and ap, agi enchants so the crits become more and more amazing :)

In general you should go farming items with max socket slots in regard to Cataclysm when new gems are introduced. At the moment some wotlk quest rewards without sockets have better stats than "weaker bc-items" with sockets. The new gems come with 40!!! agi wtf and if there is no change of restriction we can use them.

Iroared presented some really good ideas like his offhand or waist.

And if you are lucky with the auction house then try to get a 69 waist, thrown-weapon and rings with "of the bandit" stats for BiS and better than all quest rewards.

Engineering is must have but your second profession is your choice. I prefer Blacksmithing cause with Cata-gems it brings the double amount of stats by other professions. Pre 4.01 Herbalism was found on many twinks through all brackets but has been nerfed hard so that the heal effect is reduced to 1/3 of the previous amount. On the other side they added a 20% haste effect for 20sek that you do not really need as a rogue whose strength lies in hard openers.

Remember that you are able to put an additional "enchanting-enchant" on your items that only had an engineering enchant before 4.01 e.g. ZG head enchant (make quick, in 3 weeks it will be removed!), shadow armor on cloak, tuskars on boots etc. Oh and if you want your rogue becoming perfect get also ZG shoulder enchant - I might remember that it has 5 additional ap (not sure but nearly 5) as the Aldor one that is acivated at level 65. You need exalted with Zandalar tribe with your 69 to get it for Cured Mammoth Hide Mantle (BiS shoulders). Hurry up ^^

a chardev profile will follow soonly ;-)

Thanks a bunch Moltie, for all the tips. I'll be looking at the AH for some of those 'of the Bandit' items like you said. Unfortunatly I prolly won't get my ZG head enchant. And I definitely won't be able to get the shoulder enchant. So I'll just have to grind away at Aldor rep and get that one some day.

cata gems do have restrictions, so just be aware of that

Ring: Enchant Ring - Assault / Enchant Ring - Stamina

    Weapon: [item]38925[/item] / [item]44493[/item] / [item]38995[/item] / [item]43987[/item]

    Gems

    • Put [item]40112[/item] in every socket. Not many socket bonuses at level 69 are worth sacrificing 10 agility for. If you're a JC, remember to put 3 [item]42143[/item] somewhere.
    • Put [item]40136[/item] or [item]40119[/item] in a blue socket if you feel low on health (less than 11-13k). Balancing stamina against agility/damage is quite hard (especially for Sub rogues).
    • Put [item]40131[/item] or [item]40125[/item] in a blue socket if you need a little more to meet the cap.
    • If you have a meta socket, go for [item]41398[/item]. If you need a yellow gem to activate your meta, use [item]40147[/item].
    • Cataclysm gems will NOT be usable at 69. They have an item level requirement for the piece of gear they're socketted into.

    Professions

    • Engineering is a must-have for the helm/trinkets/tinkers. Tinkers now stack with enchants (so you can have both, but the tinkers no longer provide stats). The [item]41121[/item] is the only item obtainable at 69 that can be reforged.
    • If you get LW high enough to be able to do the Leg Reinforcements, you can drop LW and pick up a new profession whilst keeping the level 80 leg enchant active.
    • JC is the best profession stat-wise (42agi) to replace LW with once you've dropped it.
    • Other stat-giving professions are: BS (40 agi), Inscription (90 AP + 15crit more than [item]20077[/item]), LW (80 AP or 62stam), Enchanting (80 AP or 60stam), Skinning (40crit), Mining (60 stam).
    • Tailoring provides you with an AP proc (400 AP for 15 secs) and [item]41509[/item]
    • Herbalism provides you with an instant (but fairly weak) heal and 240 haste for 20 secs.
    • The level requirement for both 525 gathering and 525 crafting professions in Cataclysm is 75, so they won't be available at 69.

    Important Stats

    • It is important to get 5% hit rating, so you have 0% chance to miss with specials (missing an opening move will put you at a severe disadvantage)
    • In sub spec, get 40% crit to be crit-capped with ambush (or 35% if you put a point in the Honor Among Thieves talent)
    • If wearing all leather (which you should be) then you get a 5% bonus to agility.
    • If sub then you gain a 25% increase to agility. This combined with the Leather Specialization gives a 31.25% increase to agility, making each point of agi on your gear grant 2.625 AP.
    • If combat then you gain a 15% increase to attack power. This combined with the Leather Specialization makes each point of agility on your gear grant you 2.415 AP.

    Talents

Here's some example talent trees. You may choose to move a few points around for your playstyle. I found the Sub spec below to be the best (and most fun) in battlegrounds.

    Racials

    • Humans have by far the best racial for level 69. "Every Man For Himself" allows you to have a 3min cooldown insignia effect whilst still having both trinket slots free for your engineering trinkets. The Undeads "Will of the Forsaken" is similiar, but only removes Fear, Charm and Sleep effects.
    • Orcs racial "Blood Fury" provides you with a 278 AP buff at level 69 (lasts 15 secs) and doesn't break stealth (therefore good for sub rogues).
    • Dwarves racial "Stoneform" is the only way you can remove a bleed effect to restealth (good against warriors and other rogues).
    • Goblins and Worgens have some great racials, both increasing damage and providing PvP utilities.

Thanks for the guide man. Unfortunatly when I made the rogue I kinda messed up and got the Borean Smasher instead of Fang of the Desolate Soul. Would you happen to know if you can faction change and re-do the quest? o.o

should be able to faction change and re-do the quest...you could also try asking a GM to switch the items, a nice one might do it. would save the cash

I have had several quest rewards changed by GMs :) You just need to open a ticket and ask nicely.

Atm I'm trying to determine which item of each slot is the true BiS for a 69 rogue. Last night I did a bit of maths regarding the off-hands, and it looks like the [item]Blackout Truncheon[/item] is best even though it has ~15dps less (makes up for it with the 2x agi gems).

24 ap and a wee bit of crit...+ stealth might be better

why would you include that when the 10 agi gets similarly buffed. just look at it w/o the modifiers as like i said before; even after spec/armor prof it isnt that large of a difference. why not take a free lvl of stealth? especially if you arent NE? and even if you are NE (if they stack), take a further lvl of stealth.

The haste proc also increases energy generation, so I would say it's better.

Those modifiers are going to always be there as they're talents/armor spec (unlike kings etc) so they're pretty important to take into account imo. At the end of the day, 14ap is still going to give 1 dps increase (and increase weapon damage by an amount equal to your weapon speed).

32ap + 8crit is about equivalent to a basic enchant (32 ap on boots for example) so it is quite a difference if that stealth increase isn't going to have much of an effect. I am pulled more towards the stealth enchant but I'm just trying to justify it to ensure I'm not wasting potential stats.

And for the record, Night Elves now only get an increase in stealth level when Shadowmelding (and 5% run speed for stealth).

exactly, the modifiers are always there. so why would you say 32 ap vs whatever ap when it's all relatively the same...seeing as both enchants benefit.

extra stealth is never bad. especially in an arena, but even in general BGs it can be quite helpful

    "Elusiveness - passive (rogue/druid only)

Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while shadowmelded or stealthed."

unless you have evidence to say otherwise, your record is wrong.

i'm also interested in your agi -> crit formula, especially since 4.0 where we get less crit from agility. so if you're using a formula pre 4.0, it's wrong; assuming it was even right pre 4.0

The weight of a stat becomes more valuable versus other stats if it has a constant modifier applied to it (for example: agi vs stamina, and in this case agi vs stealth). Figuring out exactly whether or not the stealth is worth the loss in agi means you'd have to take those modifiers into account.

Elusiveness: Elusiveness - Spell - World of Warcraft

I got my crit numbers by unequipping a piece of gear with agi on (and no crit rating), noting down the difference and dividing by the amount of agi on that item. I also did the same with crit rating so I could compare the two. I understand that stats scale, but with my current gear I got these values: Crit per agi = 0.69/21 = 0.033%, Crit per rating = 2.45/51 = 0.048% (that's including armor spec/talents).

So this 12 agi increase would give 12*0.033 = 0.396% crit, which in crit rating is 0.396/0.048 = 8.25 crit rating.
