5.4 Rogue Discussion

Iamsmoke

Legend
Ok so my rogue has been set up like this. Pamshoo @ Malorne - Community - World of Warcraft . I know I have read some discussions and tried to follow and use judgments to make good enchanting choices with the new patch. If anyone has any other options/suggestions please feel free to share. I am always open to try new things. Also, which daggers are considered to be best at the moment and which spec are people using. I am still using Assassination with Balance heartseeker and Tail Spike...is this a bad choice?? or is the buffs to ambush and nightstalker now doing well? Hope this will be a good place for other rogues to see some of the new enchants and see good discussion about the class. Also, how critical is it for hitcapping or is it not critical at all and instead stack AP and crit? I have an Elo's band for hit if its critical to hit cap so just wondering. I'm a noob. Take care Happy Tinking

You should always be hit capped in a pvp setting, that's always been one of the most important things for pvp players. The Stained Shadowcraft gear should get you there, unless they changed something about hit in the latest patch.

I'm in for the discussion of weapons though, as prior to the patch I was using 2x heirloom mace and would like to know if that's still a viable alternative for rogues without Shadowfangs. Should we be switching to daggers, or swords, and which ones? I'd be out testing, but I'm at work all day :(

Also Mocha's thread does a fine job of discussing enchants, the Mongoose vs EF debate has been pretty much cleared up over there I think.

I seen the discussion but was still wondering because all the rogues I have checked have went Elemental Force except a few that have Mongoose. Rogue weapons I have no clue about which is actually the best set up. I am .005 from hitcap on specials so I may have to plug in Elo's band until I get another Heartseeker which would get me over cap. :) .

My gear isn't final if you armory now I just need to change to 15 stam to bracers +12 pvp power on back and +113 hp on chest.

So it looks like 2x Heartseeker with EF on them is the way to go?

In my opinion, yes. I like assas insane opening burst. Sub with dancing steel x2 will be better for a long drawn out fight. Realistically though, when do those kind of fights happen?

Yeah, I think opening burst is going to be better overall because rogues still lack mobility and when we open on something, we want to kill it right then and there and get a return.

How much agility does the feet enchant give?

5 agil + speed.

nelf rogues should let mongoose proc switch to dual agil weaps and subterfuge ambush efcs.

right now it looks like I'm going to be doing ef because of the crazy proc rate. Opening ambush dual dagg and ef is insane but you could always switch to mongoose for a proc and switch out. Good thing I have a sub and assassination rogue. It's going to be more viable to gear pure ap / damage and then have a pure Stam/ surviv set. No point in Stam on your bracers for dps set because you'll already be at 1600 hp in ap set and either way you'll be dead in a matter of seconds. IMO but again it's going to take time to figure it out.

I think this patch we will see many builds and not just 1 cookie cutter spec, which should make for a fun season. I have tried both EF and mongoose and I must say both are nice enchants. EF seems to proc more than mongoose making it a great enchant for an ass build. I however have decided to gear my toon a little bit differently from the glass cannon spec we have known. I will be using colossus on my off hand for it procs I think more than EF, which says alot! Like Rith mentioned you are going to need to build to survive this patch due to large burst, healers having big heals and the larger health pool. This enchant will provide you with a bubble that when tested in duels was up about 85% of the fight along with mongoose in the other hand when procs definitely applys the pressure needed and the safety to stay in the fight and be able to go toe to toe to stay on those healers longer without being blown up. This set up is better for a sub build. If you are wanting to stay in target less, but do more burst then I would recommend dual EF's on assassination build.

you mentioned how important is hit rating and I can tell you from my experience hit rating really only matter when you are doing rogue v rogues for having they extra hit helps land those poisons on the other rogue basically giving you the upper hand to be able to kite and restealth if possible. Other than that I've been fully hit capped and then had about 19% miss and I didn't notice much in the casual WSG games.

I think your selection in daggers should be fine you might want to get another heart seeker mainly for the speed, hit to help proc EF more if you are goif that route. I would just make sure that you think twice before rolling a glass cannon build in this patch as it seems like it's going to be harder to 1v1 healers or kill a healer with an add if you are rolling with like 13-1500hp, but I could be wrong.

I hope this helped I am almost finished with my rogue as well, but you will see me rocking colossus on one hand and either mongoose or EF on the other hand in either sub/ass!

Battle fatigue increased by a decent amount. So i don't really know how hard is it to kill an healer who heal less than next patch.
