39 Rogue Guide

what about any good axes in general i kinda want to get an axe for the lulz

Thank you for writing this guide. I've been playing with the idea of making a twink rogue for some time now. Not sure of going 39 or 49, any suggestions?

Also, with patch 3.2 coming any time now, I've been thinking about a 39/49 twink orc axe rogue. Any thoughts on this? Again thanks for taking the time to put all this great information in one spot!:D

Very comprehensive guide m8, intresting to read...

so can someone explain why goldminer's helm is so much better than the rest? i have Nocturnal-Monkey and the Pit helm and was wondering if the goldminer was worth the time to farm. thanks and i love the site (long time visitor and first time poster) btw if anyone has any critiques on my rogue the armory is Nazty-Hellscream:)

Very nice post thank you for spending the time to make it. I have a few question I found on the AH today a couple [item]Ardent Custodian[/item] I was wondering if these would be any good or should i just put them back on the Ah. If they are good what should i put on them for enchants I am thing goose and agil.

The weapons you got are much better than those Ardents ;)

Haul them back to the AH.

Aquamarine Signet of the Monkey - 7/7, 7/8 or 8/7 || This should be your first ring.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 8/8, I have a screen shot I think o_O

Just throwing that out there, ill post the ss in a bit

A few suggestions from a seasoned 39 rogue.

I would point out that thistle tea shares cooldown with stone statues. I thought I was training JC for more than the BiS trinket, but recieved a cold slap in the face at ~150jc when I used the first statue. I maybe use the tea one in 3 games, but if you're going to use consumables, use the one that lets you drop the efc before healers have a chance to react.

As far as gear is concerned, I think you missed a couple of gems.

Vanity alternatives:

[ITEM]9427[/ITEM] Is a rather sexy mace that trails mallet of zf slightly, but makes up for it in style/uniquity. Also if you use ghostly strike when available, it should outdmg zf.

[ITEM]10583[/ITEM] (though lvl34)is IMHO the best chest item available for rogues(though it will be trumped by bta chest in 3.2). Once again it's rather rare, but if you see one cheap, it's worth the individuality. Bear in mind crap to you if you prefer to stack stam over ap.

Functional alternatives:

[ITEM]29202[/ITEM] I cannot stress this one enough. Having + learning to utilize these simply improved my game. Throw has a much shorter cast time than shoot, and with blind on cd, these can make the difference between dazing that cheetahed hunter and getting big red letters about my ranged impotence while the flag dances away. Throw is also my "no you ain't bandagin' foo" button.

Bear in mind you can always wear your stat bow 99% of the time. Just keybind an equip macro to swap to your axes in the rare occasion you choose to throw/shoot.(or incorporate it into a macro that throws as well, but can be glitchy if done improperly and realm is down so I can't copy verbatim) If this seemed like too much of a hassle, I'd simply use the axes. They may not be better all of the time, but when they are, it can be game changing.

Just my 2 cents, and thank you taking all this time to share an awesome guide.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm sticking to the functional items in this guide, so [ITEM]29202[/ITEM] is a good call. I use it myself, so I have no idea why I forgot to add that little gem :)

Slowly making a lv 39 rogue and just wanted to know should I bother with the BOA chest at all? Thanks.

The BoA chest completely dominates everything else.

Could you detail how you are Garrote/rupture over a sap. I keep trying to perfect it with various macro's i find on the web but am as of yet unable to pull it off reliably.

Thank you and great job on the guide so far.

I'll write a section about that friday/saturday :)

I'm probably still blind from my last rogue attack but i cant find any info on how to garrote/rupture/cs etc without breaking sap. This info would be awesome to know.

Thanks heaps for the guide!
