39 resto druid BiS

Resto's main issue is that once you've used Swiftmend, you're an easy kill for 15 seconds til it's up again. Their heals are not efficient, and NS is pretty much only useful for roots.

If you're set on druid, just play feral, or *maybe* if you're an exceptional player, boomkin, as the average player will still be ineffective with that spec.

If you're set on a healer, order of power is Priest>Paladin>.......Shaman>Druid

Not true at all.

I've out healed Disc priests easily even after going tauren/engineering and the day I oom before a Disc priest is the day pigs fly.

Show me a disc priest who can out heal me, survive longer than me, and oom slower than me, and i'll believe you.

Resto druids aren't really in tiptop shape atm. Low armor, no decent fast heal, hot just no ticking enough with the high damage, loss of instant root glyph,... atleast there is still the mobility I guess.

I'd roll another healing class if you want to heal effectively. (priest, pala being the best choices as said before)

Honestly, if he wants to make a druid, let him. I don't chose my chars by looking at which one of them is most effective healer, i go for which playstyle i like the best. If everyone rolled one class because it was deemed the best, the situation would get really boring, with everybody chosing one out of three classes (the best healer, the best dps, and the best tank class). I'm currently in the progress of lvling a warlock to 39, even though pretty much everyone has given up on them in this bracket, because i feel like it, and because i hope that, once i have gotten used to it and gotten a bit of practice, i might be on an equal level with all those other DPS classes out there. It's not about which class you play, it's how you play it.

We're actually doing him a favor by attempting to steer him away from resto druid. Due to spell mechanics, they really ARE that ineffective right now. Way more ineffective than locks.

As far as I could tell from mrcers post, he isn't having any problems in that area, so it should be possible for others to follow in his footsteps. All it takes is the time to learn the class properly and gear it in a way that enhances its potential. Don't always go for what is the flavour of the month, chose the class you prefer and play it as best you can. The game changes all the time and so do the classes, I doubt that priests will forever be the stronger healer by default. I am not a big fan of the idea that any other class than, lets say, hunter, priest and paladin should be off-limits for twinking at 39.

EDIT:

On reading again I might have misunderstood mrcers post, were you arguing that paladins or druids are better healers than priests?

Even if that is the case, I still see no reason not to try out a druid.

Do you even play WSG in the exp-off 39 bracket currently? Who are your twinks? It's unfortunate to see someone encouraging a resto druid in their current state.

Healing≠effectiveness, Mrscer. The reason you outheal Priests is because we are always bubbling (which doesn't register as healing), HOTing, offensive dispelling, DOTing Rogues, and even contributing to DPS on burst targets. Holy Paladins cannot do any of the above, and thus they only spam Flash of Light/Holy Shock. Holy Paladins *should* be outhealing Priests, but that doesn't necessarily mean Paladin>Priest. And while a Priest may OOM faster than you, that is because they are doing aforementioned tasks in addition to healing. Also I would question that you can survive longer than a Priest... when BOP is down what do you have? Priests have a second school to deal damage with to avoid lock outs, plus we can fear, and even SW:D polys.

Holy Pallies can`t dps? Exo spam says "Hi". Plus they have a what, 5 second stun that is not broken on damage, plus Hand of Freedom, emergency LoH, etc..?

Not just playing Devil's Advocate, but what you are saying is not 100% true.

Grope summed it up rather well and HoF is level 52 these days or somewhere in that range.

Of course Pallies bring some awesome tools to the table like LoH/HoJ, but those have lengthy CDs, and in relation to my argument abt Priests not having as high healing cuz they're doing other jobs, HoJ takes up 1 GCD every minute. That's nothing. If a Holy Paladin and Priest are in the same battle, the Paladin will be spam healing, while the Priest will be mostly shielding/hotting/dotting/dispelling etc. And while Exo spam does do decent damage, it makes you very vulnerable to interrupts, which DOTs/mindblast/SW: D don't do.

My resto druid is tons of fun to play, and of course i see when other healers healing me bigger casting numbers but the strength of resto druid is healing the whole team with blanket HoTs. Play what you like! Resto druid's don't recieve credit for what they bring to the gulch. I don't have the best best gear but never felt like less than an asset to the team.
