3.1 Arms -> Overpower: Yay or Nay?

Just played a half hour WSG as an Overpower based Arms spec, and while the Overpowers were nice I frequently found that my opponent died before I could get a Taste of Blood proc. I'm starting to wonder how strong Overpower really is with the new health to damage ratio.



I respecced to a new Arms build that skipped all Overpower talents, I'm thinkin' of running around in Berserker stance and making full use of the crit and Whirlwind. Only problem I see is having to dance between the Berserker and Battle stances in order to make frequent use of Juggernaut... which is annoying to say the least. I might up my 1/3 in TM to 3/3.



Anyhow, I haven't played the Whirlwind spec yet since I want to catch some sleep. But I was wondering what your thoughts were on this? If you're playing an Arms Warrior how much use do you feel you get from Overpower? Is it worth sinking 7 talent points into?
 
i always go with 2h spec over taste for blood. the procs are inconsistent, and the damage isnt always there when you need it. theres less of a need for the extra overpower procs with MS anyway.



the true strength in unrelenting assault builds is the ability to spam revenge 4-5 times before the timer runs out. for only 20-25 rage and 4-5 gcds you can pump out damage equal to about 3 mortal strikes
 
Yeah, I rethought my Whirlwind idea since I don't want to stance dance if I can avoid it. Besides, Overpower is nice when it naturally procs, I think my real beef is with Taste of Blood. I changed specs yet again for Improved Slam, cutting out Taste of Blood and Unrelenting Assault.



My plan is whenever I can immobilize an opponent (Charge or Imp. Hamstring) to shove a Slam down their throat, Mortal Strike when they're movin' around, and finish with an Execute.



Sounds good on paper, and I really am excited for it. But I don' think I'll get to test it since restarts are happening within the hour. :p



And yeah, I said I needed sleep, but I couldn't sleep once I got my newest build idea. I hope I don' get another, I really should sleep and I don' wanna spend another fifty gold! Heh.



I have to say though, the Revenge build idea is interesting for 80... but you have to go pretty deep into Arms for it. What kinda talent tree would you put together for that?

wait, what?! have you played arms since 3.1?? i've been 38/2 for months (and this is my new 3.1 spec http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LcbGbfct0brRzMZ0b) and taste for blood has always been consistent for me in the past and now more than ever since it has 100% proc rate every 6 seconds when rend ticks... i charge in (regular or via juggernaut) MS, hamstring, rend, OVERPOWer, and they're either dead or i hit execute. and overpower is always worth it imo, mine has nearly 80% crit chance atm so it hits like a truck on a 1sec CD.

for the second part of ur quote; i've never tried that strat, but it seems strange to me to have to switch to def. stance and wait for revenge to pop 4-5 times in one fight before dying......not to mention if ur using overpower on a caster and hit em as they cast they lost 50% of damage/healing which is win. so i'd rather stick to being in battle and overpower people to death and occasionally switch to berserker to intercept/ms/WW/etc
 
Taste for Blood has a 100% proc rate with a cd of 6 seconds. Against non-kiters you can get away with Rending for your first spell, meaning after the GC after your next ability you get a free overpower that will probably crit.
 
God damn, I just played my Warrior for the first time since patch, wow..



Taste for Blood was proccing like crazy, and if you can't use it on one target cause it dies, use it on the next. Also, 100% crit on MS after Charge, with a 12 second Charge that generates a fuckton of rage is absolutely ridiculous. 1100+ MS crits and 900+ Overpowers..

Yeah, I tried a Slam centric build which had nice opening burst, but peetered out after that. If I get Dual Spec on my Warrior, I'll try another TfB/OP build and probably open with the Rend. Mostly though, I just miss Juggernaut... if the 49 queues stay slow I might move up to 69 and pick up Warbringer.
 
few examples of berzerker buff crits:) got to 1950ish without any major external buffs. i have 900 ap with shout, 200 more can come from orc racial and 200 more from crusader, but dont think i had them all at once in these. and i got 25.5% crit unbuffed in combat stance. if i'd go for stacking more ap with buffs, food, pots i'd get over 2200 on cloth i belive.

i literally oneshot 60% of non plate ppl after a charge. one of the screens features a ms+white hit double crit of 3k total.

i play this warr for some years but now it's too easy.. feel like a ret with juggernaut.

in my opinion they should make it either usable in combat or 100% crit ms, not both

the 49 bracket moves too fast to try to get dmg through bleeds/slams. You should be maxing out your MS dmg, crit even isnt such a big factor anymore since we have 100% critting MS and 60%+ critting Overpowers.



Since 3.1, I have seen myself charging, MS, then rending or hamstringing opponents, kiting if I can waiting for charge cooldown to reset or taste of blood to proc. warriors can now generate even more incredible burst in 1-2 seconds, so it is crucial to run in deal your dmg, and then make some space so you dont take dmg (from melee classes).



I would not stay in berserker stance, battle stance is a lot better post 3.1 for arms. i only tend to switch to berserker for a quick intercept, and if i have too much rage I whirlwind or MS before switching back to battle stance.

-you take more dmg in berserker, plus battle stance has armor penetration
