runecloth bandage > heavy runecloth bandage

Both in world and instanced pvp.
Heavy Runecloth Bandage heals for 1500-1600 ish and (the lower rank) runecloth bandage 3100-3400 ish depending on HP

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, been back a few months from 3 year break and just discovered last night.

Edit: Currently farming ilvl 27 shield for Pally, will let you know if it ever drops for me at this bracket.
    ps nice guide :)

    Glad you like the guide!

EDIT: Disregard this next part, looks like it isn't quite correct!
So heavy runecloth bandages are better than runecloth bandages, if both are made today. When they did the MoP stat squish (I think this was when), bandages weren't updated - so heavy runecloth bandages (all bandages, really) from back then heal for way less. If you're an old school twink with bandages in your bags, try making a new set on your main and comparing them.

Is this for real? I never knew this. I've got bags full of heavy runecloth. :(

Dang! So knew bandages are different to the old stockpiled ones? I'm going to have to check this out tonight.

Does any of this change at 20? Is this just a 19 thing? I thought I checked this out earlier in the year and I'm sure the heavy runecloth was better, but then again it's been a while. I'll have to check this out.

Yeh just made new bandages on main and tested on hunter with 2.9k HP

    4. Heavy Runecloth bandage 170 per tic
    3. Mageweave bandage 180 per tic
    2. Heavy Mageweave bandage 294 per tic
    1. Runecloth bandage 368 per tic

This was just in SW but the results will be similar in instanced PVP, the more hp your character has the more it heals for.

Interesting. I checked and it looks correct, though I'm not quite sure how or why that is. The tooltips are also misleading. Good news is that I can make twice as many bandages now. I'll go ahead and update the guide - thanks for the info!

Yes shields drop, picked up a ilevel 23 (of the aurora) so maybe different versions too....
    will post stats tonight.

Side note, got a ilvl 27 off hand orb as a holy pally... so frustrating!

I haven't been twinking since late WOD, but I take it that the Legion invasion gear is GF'd? If so, how does that work with non-GF'd twinks, is there a big difference?

Also, does stat distribution of your ilevel gear matter? Or is it all normalized? Like, does it matter if it has crit or haste on it when you enter instanced PvP events?

The legion invasion gear is grandfathered. For the most part, it isn't a huge deal. Only weapons for a few select classes (hunter, rogue/warr/enhance shammy/retadin, maybe a few others) were significant - and even then it isn't anything huge.

None of the stats on your items matter. You don't receive any crit/haste/verse/stam/agi/etc directly from your gear. Thats why several white items with no stats are actually BiS. When joining a BG/arena, your stats are determined by your class/spec's stat template - with no influence from the actual stats on your gear.

The things that do matter are...

    • Wearing the right armor type (we get a 5% agi/str/int bonus for wearing all the right type of armor, despite the tooptip saying its level 50 or something)
    • Weapon damage/speed for those classes where it is important (and only the mainhand matters for dual weilders)
    • Using a wand if able (wands give extra stats due to a bug)
    • Using a shield if able (shields give armor, offhands do not)
After that you can start working on upping ilvl without breaking any of those. For each average ilvl above 24, you get .1% more stats from your template. So even at ilvl 34, you're only getting 101% stats instead of 100% stats. The difference between a noob with ilvl 24 gear and a BiS twink with ilvl 45+ gear depending on class/GFd gear is only going to be a few stam/primary stat/armor. Which is why most of the invasion gear doesn't matter much for instanced PVP. For duels and wPvP you'll be lacking though.

"The introduction of a low-mana, no-cast, no-cooldown heal as well as the bubble makes disc pretty strong."

    What are you talking about?

I haven't been too active lately, so the class/spec blurbs are a bit out of date. I'm trying to keep the gear up-to-date as much as possible though.

Basically that was written for 7.0, when priests got plea (low cost, no cast, no cooldown heal) and still had bubble. They were quite OP. With 7.1, a lot of low level skills got redistributed, and unfortunately I haven't played enough to be able to update a lot of the blurbs with accurate info.

This isn't making sense to me. Mist piercing goggles are ilvl 90. That's 66 ilvl's above 24. If each ilvl increases your primary stats by 0.1%, then this difference would make a 6.6% increase. That's better than the 5% increase from amor-type bonus. So why do you say it's worse?

Your average equipped ilvl is what is used. So the goggles might be 66 ilvls higher, but they bring your average ilvl across all your gear up by 2-3 ilvls (say from 24 to 27). That's a 0.3% increase.

Restoring from the november backup meant this guide was very dated. Everything should be back up-to-date now. Notable stuff:

    • Given the possibility of losing the guide due to website shenanigans, I now have everything in a Google Doc - which will be the "master" copy. Feel free to comment on this xpoff thread or in the google doc. Suggestions and talent choices are always welcome.
    • A new 30 Second Twink Guide which is mostly obvious, but might help out brand new twinks.
    • Looking into Rockslicer (25) vs BG crate polearm (27) for survival. Rockslicer should be better, but if the higher ilvl gets you more agi/verse, then it might be better in rare cases. Not sure the numbers yet - very small diff either way.
    • Looking into Black Magic proccing in BGs. It only procs on spells, so it would mostly be for casters - but supposedly it can proc on http://www.wowhead.com/spell=5227/touch-of-the-grave and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=28730/arcane-torrent - which could make it worth having on physical classes. Not sure if the haste would even change things that much...

[Satchel of Helpful Goods] @19 lvl now have a chance to drop ilvl 25:
    - necklace
    - shoulder
    - cloak
    - gloves
    - belt
    - ring
    - boots
    That all... or anything else?

I honestly don't know what drops from the random dungeon satchel anymore. I've seen the usual belt/cloak but also some other pieces recently. They are all ilvl 25 though, so will be the same ilvl as all other dungeon drops (and usually worse stats). The only interesting thing would be if a leather helm dropped, as there is no ilvl 25 leather helm.
