If I remember right, it was 5% drop rate back in the day. My best ever was 4 runs. The one I’ve gotten in classic was probably around 30 runs. I don't think I ever did more than 50 runs for a ring, but I am just approximating.

I'm pretty sure this is the closest to true, even in vanilla. However, the difference is the buff didn't automatically scale down, you had to manually select the highest applicable buff by trying each one. I do remember having higher levels buff you though because you'd still rather take a +1...

Petrolsk has edited the original post, but I think it’s worth a bump to mention that we’ve transferred to Heartseeker. If you’re on a high pop server and are interested in 59s, you may be able to transfer to Heartseeker as well.

I did this. It mostly depends on your class and how important gear is. I leveled a warlock just fine and around level 40+ I just looked for Shadow Wrath gear every time I stopped at the AH. Most of the blue gear for locks leveling is often not as good as just some shadow wrath greens.
