Neither build comes close to pushing 2k, I think it's about even when it comes to EHP for the shield build, but Talbar probably wins for the dps setup.

If you compare Tiger to Gloves of Holy Might, you're getting an extra .2% (or so) Crit out of the Epics. However you miss out on the Dodge/AC from Agi and Nature Resist. For pure DPS though Holy Might win. If you do go for the Arachnids, you'll get Monkey versions before Tiger anyways so try both!

I would look at something like this gear setup for a tanky spamstring style. Talents are somewhat limiting at 19 but if you are concerned about Rage you could look at Imp Charge build or even just Fury. Otherwise for tank mode you probably want to just run 5 Parry and 5 Block.
