It's not about making you better, GF is really cool and makes people feel all nostalgic. It's the same as buying a 19 gfed rogue.

The reason for the date and post count, it shows how much you contribute to the site, and how dedicated you actually are. someone with over 2k posts is most likely not going to troll 24/7. But it is fun every once in awhile.
