It procs more often, yes, but it grants only 96 haste compared with the 216 haste from an ilvl 100 BoW. Plus the sword allows for an OH enchant and gem slot, which are always nice. But yeah, the staff is definitely an option.

The patch should do that on its own, tbh. The shake-up of what's BIS always brings people out of the woodwork.

I just got one on my 80 mage... it doesn't proc nearly as often as you'd hope, but it's pretty fun when it does.

With the new patch just around the corner and a lot of changes on the way, what are you most looking forward to?

Oh, man... I've been grinding dungeons on a character I'm taking to 80 and it's just hellish lol. Got to 70 last night and I'm struggling to find motivation to grind those last 10 haha...

I have a fire mage at 20, 39, 49, 70, and 80. I don't really enjoy fire at 20 or 39 very much; you're just missing too much of your toolkit to really be fun to play or effective, and missile spam is just orders of magnitude better. It's not any fun, but it's better. 49 is the earliest bracket...

Yep! I originally rolled on Arygos with my roommate in mid-BC, also, then when realm transfers came available we all went to Velen. The majority of my characters are there, with a bunch of twinks on Skullcrusher and a few toons on BH... but yeah--good, old, dead Velen is my chief hangout. :)
