EU+US Chops F2P Warrior Guide

Thanks, that's useful. I'm still curious to know exactly how abilities/autos scale but this is good enough to pick which gear to wear.
Some time ago (if not a few expansions ago), (I don't remember if this is still the case or not, though it may still be the case), I remember the math for AP-to-DPS was (and 1 STR gives 1 AP) +3 AP=+1 DPS, and the damage of your auto-attacks is equal to your

Auto-attack damage=(Damage from weapon itself)+DPS*(weapon speed)=Weapon Damage,

and (weapon speed) for 2h (since weapon speeds are uniform now) is 3.6, or simply equal to your weapon damage.

Regarding the 1 str=1 AP=2.5 vers. comparison... if that's true at level 20 then 1 str>2.5 (or 3 or some other value) vers. within instanced pvp, as it's worth noting that within instanced PvP, as everyone's scaled to level 29 [in terms of character stats not from gear and secondaries-to-% scaling], and each point of secondaries give less %vers/haste/crit/etc. at level 29 than at level 20.

As for how the damage of abilities are calculated, all abilities for warriors/non-SP classes since the start of BFA now only scale with AP [and not weapon damage], at least according to a old wowhead article and it's current infos on skills (like wowhead claims Mortal Strike deals 119% of your AP, and that's not counting damage reduced due to armor, and even target dummies have armor).

Idk exactly how it works, but with a blue https://www.wowhead.com/item=6327/the-pacifier?ilvl=26, my Mortal Strike tooltip says 257, and if I switch it out for https://www.wowhead.com/item=4818/executioners-sword, it goes down to 255 despite adding net +1 strength. Furthermore, if I put on my epic https://www.wowhead.com/item=6327/the-pacifier?ilvl=32 and take off 10 strength by removing my https://www.wowhead.com/item=57476/kromgar-sergeants-armored-greaves, the tooltip reads 258, even though I have -7 or -8 overall strength compared to the two other configurations. So weapon damage does seem to play a part in ability damage (unless those tooltips aren't accurate).

Ya, weapon damage from weapon seems to play a part somehow (wowhead after all could've been incorrect, who knows). And tooltip numbers in-game are correct (if not sometimes off by 1), as the damage I deal to dummies with spell abilities (since spells ignore armor) always deal (ability tooltip) or (ability tooltip)-1.

That said, while auto-attacks have some variation due to damage spread of a weapon, damage from abilities for all classes (including AP-classes) have no variance. So if weapon damage plays a part, the variance from a weapon's damage spread was zeroed out somehow.

Weapon DPS, not raw damage, is what affects ability damage. Strength and AP were given a larger role back in... BFA prepatch? I think? in order to make melee classes less weapon dependent but weapon DPS still seems to have the largest effect.
