We Missed A Great Opportunity...

Achievement Hunting
It would be an understatement if I did not say how disappointed I was/am in entire community.

Instead of taking the influx of over 20,000 viewers as an advantage to show how great the twinking community is and how helpful this website can be, our rotten apples stood out like true shining e-knights.

I watched 5 minutes of Asmongold's stream just scrolling through a certain thread which was created to roast him, or must you say "muster the troops". You know how embarrassing it was for me (most likely the rest of the staff) to see all the disrespectful comments shown in front of 22,000 viewers? And for what? A stroke on your ego? How could you guys be so selfish and juvenile. "Lets hunt this goon down and show him who rules this bracket". What? Are you guys like e-alpha males or something? Are you unable to handle not being as popular as him? Why would you NOT want to give a good impression in front of thousands of people and show how fun twinking can be. Instead, you instantly segregated him away from our entire community (IN FRONT OF F*#%$& 20,000 VIEWERS).

@Sun I applaud your thread. Somehow, they also found your farming strategy for epic gear, so thank you. You are probably the only one on here that has shown some support towards this new twink. Reinforcing our decision to select you as a humble bracket coordinator.

To the rest of you, I have said it multiple times and I will say it again, you are a disgrace to the twinking community and most likely the reason why the twink camaraderie is non-existant.

Grow up and change your mentality of this petty "me vs them". We truly missed a great opportunity for this forum and the development of twinking. And every single person that commented on that thread in a negative way has played a role in that.

Good job.

P.S. @Razqt is probably the only qualified person on this whole forum to talk shit towards him since he most likely is the only one with a higher pvp rating than him.

There is literally nothing to say agaist this. Indeed our community appeared as a 12 year old kid. If we'd have been more mindful in our words, perhaps the twinking scene would have grown even more, seeing that those 20k people would actually enjoy/respect the community. But yeh, shitheads will always be there to rise up saying shit stuff.

Amen brother, i am disgusted that we are surrounded by a few vile people on this site drowning out the great community we have here, it is awful to read the things people on this site tell each other, and to have to delete things that should never be said.To reaffirm @Sponsor you guys should be ashamed, that many people coming into our community could have been game changing, but instead of open arms you reared back and treated him like the disrespectful brats some of you are, clean up the act guys. Twinking was never started to be rude and indecent to each other, take a hold of community and be proud to walk in it, instead of hating everything for no reason.

Been part of this community since twinkinfo.com I have seen some stuff go down. I seen @threads and other stuff by far this takes the cake and the fact i know and associate with some of those people im also embarrassed and ashamed at those people. And i finally understand why people hate twinks is because majority of us are self-centered little... if we took half as much effort as we do to shame people away and instead welcome people this community wouldn't be in the state it's in. :'(

a. You can not have mutual trust in competitive environment.

b. His stand on "casuals" is pretty clear and it is not very friendly.

c. This page would never have gotten any attention without drama.

Using his own words: we are the masters of this sandbox and he is an apprentice.
Apprentice is yet to defeat the master.

ppl 5 man fotm premade and gy farm 1 leveling person entire game for 50-0 hk screenshots and then coming here preach about values.

Back in the day, If someone got out of hand on the forums, we would hunt them down, and murder them as a full 5-10 man premade.

Shit talked was never tolerated, now you can say whatever the fuck you want and be the most toxic person alive and people will praise you.

People have just gotten more rotten as a whole, and it’s become squads of douchebags.

I’m probably going to get hell for this, but I’m glad we pushed asmagold out of here in a sense. Can you imagine the kind of trash his channel drags in. Do we need more of those kinds of people?

Since WoD I've stepped away from WoW for the most part (mainly due to the merge of xp-on and xp-off brackets). But I pop my head back in every once in a while and I've been keeping up on this whole ordeal. Why the fuck are we trying to shut out someone who has 20k+ viewers at almost any given time? Growth for this damn near dead community would be great. This is the perfect opportunity to show the rest of the WoW community what twinking is all about. But rather we decide to bash him for no damn reason, even if you don't like him it makes little sense to bash someone bringing interest into our community. We have all the tools to assist them in getting BIS or how to get BIS and tips and tricks. All I am saying is that this is a great opportunity (that we haven't missed yet) that we need to take advantage of.

1. Lol we must have played two entirely different games and frequented much different versions of twinkinfo/pwndepot "back in the day"

2. Did he rlly leave already? For someone who claims not to care what a bunch of "end game failures" has to say, he took things pretty rough xlmaoe

As much as I may talk shit, I've enjoyed the surge in 39s. After just coming back it's refreshing to see my favorite bracket is alive and well (on the competitive side of things). Have been twinking 39s since 2009, thru merged bgs, xpoff segregation and back again. Haven't enjoyed any bracket more than this one, aside from MAYBE 70s for a bit bc I'm a pvenerd. This has brought back a number of old friends to WOW I never thought I'd see again, so in the end TY asmongold for everything u have done my sweet prince.

Like every gaming community, a majority will be tight-knit, however, there's going to be a select group that will be toxic, and if anybody knows this best - it's Asmongold himself.

Concerning the thread he read, a lot of the posts from the veteran members of the forum were cordial, while most of the toxic or disrespectful posts came from those who are still quite new to the forums (<100 posts). Frankly, they haven't been around long enough to know the type of community we are here.

This is a forum for the twinking playstyle. Those new to twinking should never be treated with hostility, especially when ignorance is the reason. You should embrace them for wanting to get involved in something you enjoy doing. If I were to get involved in a bracket that I've never played before, I'd be appalled if I got the same type of feedback, and I'm sure each and every one of you would be too.

Endgame players that have never twinked before all show similar views as Asmongold. Calling those that play twinks casuals, can't make it at endgame, etc. Though, similarly to the endgame community, there's obviously a ton of casuals that play twinks but at the same time there's a huge competitive part of it as well. A perfect example of this type of attitude was shown by Abn's rbg team competing in the first twink cup tournament. They thought that their endgame knowledge would give them an edge but they were wrong. They came in cocky, lacked the knowledge and skills of the twinking playstyle, and ultimately lost. Some of these players continue to play twinks competitively and don't show the same attitude they did previously - I think that's awesome.

Negative posts just further cement this view people have of the twinking community. Back when Soda, Xaryu, and Cdew were getting involved in the community, I and others greeted them with open arms. This is what we all should continue to be doing with not just Asmongold, but every new user to the twinking community.

I have really mixed feelings on this. On one hand, I want to call this your past catching up with you. Did you really think the community here, the one to which you and others in charge have personally contributed behaviors like these, would react any other way? @SPQR called it -- you've been here, you've done this. And as he said (if I may paraphrase), drama sells and Asmongold's followers are buying. This community is no different -- the 19 bracket argued for the effectiveness of this approach for years, and got a couple of Twink Cups out of it.

But on the other hand, you're completely right about your assertions. This is a major blown opportunity (not the first nor the biggest, but certainly the latest) by a community that promulgates sharing only insofar as it enshrines its progenitors. @Sun might be the only reason the site saved any face at all. To be sure, as a former staff member, I respect the sheer amount of work it takes everyone to run a site like this, regardless of where everyone came from. Now you see the current boundaries of its growth.

P.S. @Razqt is probably the only qualified person on this whole forum to talk shit towards him since he most likely is the only one with a higher pvp rating than him.

Talking trash has never required any kind of PvP skill on this (or any other) site.

Yeah, I can imagine just fine. I've seen it here for years. How do you think this whole thing blew up? Or as @Sanitarium said....

1. Lol we must have played two entirely different games and frequented much different versions of twinkinfo/pwndepot "back in the day"

This is the long-standing paradox the twink community always faced. We say we want more and better games, but what most of us really mean is that we want more and better games that we can still win with minimal effort. Most people here aren't willing to pay the price (e.g. helping newbies, losing misbalanced BGs, spending time contributing to community needs) required to achieve this. I don't blame anyone -- people play to relax, enjoy time with friends, blow off steam, etc., but if we want to make the most of opportunities like this in the future, a little awareness and decency will go a long way.

Just like with any other place, there is a vocal minority that misrepresents what our community is, some of you boys/gals are pretty cool, helpful and friendly. However, allow me to contradict myself, twinking attracts a lot of toxic players, the worst I would say. It is not just the graveyard camping for 15 minutes straight or the kind of member that would argue how wrong you are for daring to play the game in a way he does not... "you are a kid who got clapped by a 60, so you go 69 because you are bad". I know I have encountered that kind of player a lot across several expansions for the sin that was being arcane main, before it became the new fotm, instead of frost.

The reality is that twinking attracts those that want a clear advantage over everyone else, there is no spirit of competition, which is why it is relatively common to see that enemy premade that was farming you for a couple of straight games, banish after you bring your own premade. The people who on voicechat can't stop going over and over about how they had over 40 HK on that one AB a few months ago and groan when you invite a friend that they find not worthy of their gladiator dps. The people who actually get mad and rage when some random leveler dared to grab the zerk buff at the start.

I know some of you are really nice, but for the most part, we are not an inclusive community.

After all this, are we surprised?

I don’t remember twinkinfo being very toxic tbh. It was always in good fun. Now people get really serious and really hurt. When I refer to back in the day I’m talking more BC era, where there were still battle groups and 19s would post more on normal forums than TI, either crying about twinks or twink calling out another twink or another twink guild, in play style, etc.

While on the subject, I don't think all of the blame lies on tinkinfo. Assyboi has been plenty toxic himself, regardless of whether or not it's an act for his stream.

A great way to get yourself targeted on sight is to make yourself out to be some "savior of the bracket" when you just started. Sweet, lots of nerds watch you & I appreciate you bringing them to our community/bg's - but twinks existed before they came and they will continue to exist once they're gone. As was the case with abn ,soda, cdew and who ever else tried out tinks (rip I wasn't playing wow when that went down)

Negative posts just further cement this view people have of the twinking community.

To be fair I have not seen any REALLY negative comments about him personally here.
Like how can you consider a "xoxo im going to go after you in bgs" hateful?
A guy is from Texas for god sake. they open carry guns over there!

Original post in the thread in question wasn't insulting him or anyone else. It wasnt even @thread.
It was just an informative topic to residents of this page about a considerable streamer trying out locking experience.

They say community is not supportive, yet neither of them "officially" have made any threads (or even registered) here to request info on gear/enchants. I bet you anything if you would give them all the item/info/gold they ever needed they would act like they knew all this stuff from alpha version of vanilla and never mentioned this page at all. There is no bad pr.

I am a little dissappointed he stopped reading the xpoff thread the post before Raz and the only people posting were people with 0 rating at endgame.

I surprised how much people are wanting all these people to be part of our community... Asmongold and his whole fan base are toxic. The fact that the guy asks his viewers for gold and RL wow codes is disgusting. He literally goes around Goldshire and makes a game of how much people will trade him. His community is gonna be here for a small amount of time and when he finds his next thing to bring attention to his stream they will all be gone. It amazing that they played the victim in all this. In no way are people here supposed to bend down and suck his toes just because "his majesty" decided to make a twink. He even sent people out on witch hunts to people who didn't like that he is making a twink by bringing up their wow-armory and bashing them.
