I'd say you're doing it right so far. Having mostly completed the profession grind, following what Andre said in his baseline guide works very well.

I would still use the nightmare tear, just think of it as being better than a strength gem. I know it kind of got lost in my first response but I do use a nightmare tear on my war and recommend it.

I have killed 1354 faceless subjugators. I haven't gotten any rings from them either, but they do still make a decent farming spot for solos / small groups. Edit: I should say, this doesn't necessarily disprove the ring drop rate, it could be that we've both gotten unlucky.

I have an Ironfoe and its extra attack comes up as a separate spell, "thrash blade" on details. I assume that if HoJ was working it would show this spell.

This is definitely a fair point. I wrote a guide about getting talasites, but it still takes a pretty gnarly grind to fill out your slots as is sort of the standard recommendation for warriors. So since warriors basically have to go Wrath JC anyway, I can totally see how it might not be worth...

You should replace a 2/2 with the nightmare tear, it says "all stats" but that's just because it gives whatever primary stat your class uses and stamina. So a nightmare tear is strictly better than a 2/2 gem. Personally, I wouldn't use any 2/2 str stam gems unless you're looking for a specific...

Are the Imps health bars turning grey? That causes them not to drop loot. I'd give the top of black rook hold a shot. I'll see about formatting that spot. Your character has to be lvl 24 to get +7 world drop relics, I'll add a more explicit explanation to the OP.

Well, when I was running stratholme I got a blackskull shield that required lvl 23, and it was just off of mobs.
