Myrm

Legend
First off I'm sorry for the Gamers-League stream debacle and I'd like to thank everyone that stepped up to help organize and stream the event. Without HB, Muskie, Tasslehof, Ephidel, Alex, Moran, Ishape, Nicozy and probably a few that I'm forgetting, there would not have been a stream. I should have went with a community stream from the beginning, but I also want to thank Gamers-League for the extra exposure and recognition they did get us. On Friday we got at least 880 legit viewers, and possibly as many as 2100, and we were the #1 WoW stream for most of the day even after the viewer count sharply declined.

I know a lot of people are upset with me because of way the rules were handled, but it's ridiculous when people say I'm biased or corrupt. If I had enforced the rules as they were written probably the only team that would not have been disqualified would be Waka Flocka Seagulls, and while I appreciate and applaud their exemplary conduct throughout the event, this is supposed to be a grand spectacle to determine who the greatest twinks in the bracket are, not a Simon Says contest. The formatting rules are created to contribute to this theme, but unfortunately sometimes ceremony or formality must be sacrificed for the sake of practicality. It seemed like some players and even teams were more concerned with trying to find some loophole to have their opponents disqualified for than with actually trying to prove themselves to be the better team, which goes against the whole spirit of the event.

This is a community event and I wanted to try to ensure that everyone that was involved had a fair chance to compete. I'm not some soulless bureaucrat who's going to dq 13 players from a yearly event that they've spent months practicing and looking forward to because they accidentally used a toy or changed the name of a character on their roster. I changed the rules to allow a team to play with subs from outside their roster with the opposing team's permission to allow Alpha Echelon, EBLG, Beantown bullies, and GSC to continue playing despite roster difficulties, and now I have people accusing me of being callous towards or even conspiring against these teams.

I thought it would be unfair to force a team to play against a team who wasn't using the roster they signed up with if they were using theirs, but I was also counting on the good natured spirit of the community to prevent anyone from actually refusing a team the opportunity to play; this was a miscalculation on my part and I apologize. I understand that this is a competition and people want to win at whatever cost but it just seemed like some of you lacked even basic understanding and compassion for your opponents. I want to see the Twink Cup and the community grow larger but I don't want you to lose your humanity.

Last year the finals ended in a draw, and I didn't want the conclusion of this year's event to be another letdown. SR was allowed to delay because it was the finals so there were no games that needed to be played after, the schedule was already way off course, and a disqualification would not have been a proper end for such a grand event. It wouldn't have mattered which teams were playing in the finals, they would have had the same treatment as SR.

People brought up Partys Over like "if this was them they'd be dq'd" as if they completely forgot the outcome of last year's event. A lot of the drama last year came from the fact that I didn't dq Party's Over and give SR the win, instead allowing the teams to tie. A lot of the drama during the tournament in general came from the fact that I didn't dq Partys Over, even though there was the same sort of witch hunt mentality from some people last year towards them as there was towards SR this year.

I appreciate everyone that participated and helped with the event, and thank you especially to the people that donated money to allow this event to grow to the scale that it did. I'm sorry if I let anyone down but I really did my best to make this tournament as enjoyable and fair as possible for everyone.

In future Twink Cups, please create some rules about Sportmanship, witch hunting and what not. If you stated in the rules that these types of behaviour in-game and on the TI forums are not acceptable then we would've easily skipped all this bullcrap.

- I do believe that DQ'ing SR in the finals would be a let down, but it would also be the most fair decision. I do not believe that having rules that says that you're not allowed to do a general action, such as exploits, are pointless as they are questionable. All exploits in the game can be questionable whether or not it's an exploit, so instead of having it say "No Exploits", rather just give examples on which exploits are NOT allowed. That's how every other tournament handles it. NEVER have rules that are questionable. Golden rule!

Anyway, thanks for putting this together, I'd appreciate more frequent tournaments with a smaller prizepool than 1 big one every year. :)

Myrm, you are the man! I would gladly stay up until 5 am to watch another Twink Cup! While it is sad that some people were bitter about you not being a rule stickler, I think it was for the best that you reacted the way that you did and that you conducted yourself the way you did.

Also, thanks Myrm (and everyone who streamed/casted) because this year's Twink Cup was a huge learning experience for me. I got to see a bunch of very great teams play at the top of their game and they showed me a lot of neat ways to play strategically. I really feel like events like this can help me and possibly even other players benefit and play better.

I personally thought it ran smoothly considering it was basically driven by our community, but i'd like to thank you for getting the ball rolling and taking charge of this tournament. I hope to see stuff like this more often as it was really fun and enjoyable experience.

Would like to see rules that aren't open to interpretation in the future as I feel it would help avoid conflict and controversy in future tournaments, but all in all this was a great tournament and i'm glad it happened.

Thank you Mrym

I heard a lot of people say it wasn't about the money, it's more for pride. How about next year, just play for pride 2016???

one thing to consider would be holding the final game on a different day from all of the tourney play bt there sure are a lot of pros and cons to it .

over all though this is only the second TC and organizing something on this scale is no easy feat . Im sure everyone learned a lot and the next TC will be even better.

My final thought is that if everyone looks back to last TC and compares it to this one im sure we can all see how this one was leagues above the last. With huge stream numbers, over all less ddos problems, the creation of ***** ****** GG19 project, and the most bracket activity ive seen in a long time this TC was great success.

ping did kinda make the whole tournament not fun to watch, viewers were kept waiting for literally ******* hours between games in every series they were supposed to play

anyways thanks again myrm and to all the casters

I think the organizers learned a thing or two lol, useful knowledge for future events, i'd say.

there was a lack of consistency when enforcing the rules that really made things sour for me

I enjoyed the gameplay a lot! The last second decisions in PING vs Harvest and GSC vs WFS and then PING were super exciting. Unfortunately I just had to go to sleep at six am, no staying power. I ended up cancelling an 8 am appointment I had been trying to stay up for. I was really sad to miss the GSC vs SR games, those would have been even better to watch live. Wouldn't have made it to the finals either way.

This cup was great, and the difficulties will hopefully be used to improve upon the organisation for next year, but it was already really well done! Sometimes you just can't predict things that will happen.

I hope next year there'll be a procedure in place for when rules need to be adjusted during cup. For example a standby ruling official that's assigned to a game and will immediately decide if a game will need to be repeated, ensuring continuous streaming and less DQ talk.

I personally don't think a rule added due to an event in a game should be retroactively applied to make the game a forfeit, if it's implemented it should be valid from that point on and if the issue was game changing the game could just be replayed immediately.

Something I think could be super amazing: there also be content prepared for the inevitable wait times! Like interviews held beforehand. :) Quizzes could be held live by the streamer. The quizzes held in chat were a great way to lose some of the tension, props to the mods who thought of that! Anything to prevent hours of placeholder pictures.

Huge props to the streamers by the way, all were great, especially Winn with his patience!

Can we also use this thread to reflect on our favourite moments? I'd love to hear other's! Mine was GSC capping with only 2 seconds to go. That was so intense!

Whatever people might say, and whatever reasons they might find to hate on this years Twink Cup and it's organizers, I felt that it, without a doubt, was a success. I was a mere viewer last year, but rose to play in a team which made it to the semifinals this year, and overall the TC felt way better organized. Of course there were hickups with the Gamers League, but **** happens, and you learn from your mistakes.

I feel like the organizers did everything in their power to ensure a healthy and entertaining Twink Cup, while trying to keep it fair. This is the 19 bracket after all, notoriously known for it's exploiting and weird wall jumps etc., so of course it is hard to make an exact rule on EVERY possible exploit.

The "rulebreaking" were blown way out of proportions imo, and if we should blame anyone for this + the stalling of the games etc., it should be the teams participating, and not the organizers.

Anyways; thanks for an amazing experience, by far the most awesome I've had in WoW for years, and I really hope that the #TwinkCup team will do anything they can, to ensure that Twink Cup 2k16 will become a reality.

SR should have been forced to run a sub. When our warrior had internet issues yesteday we were forced to sub him out and weren't able to run the double priest comp that we intended.

Simply put, a biased admin's choices is what sealed our fate in the finals. While no one individual can be blamed for the tournament being delayed for so long, jcm having to wait 5 hours to play their finals was not a fun thing.

However this would be negligible if not for the fact we then had to wait another 50 minutes to play the 2nd game onward because of SR getting free time to deal with what we had to deal with all day (look at the vods vs. SR and see what happened to Kevi), and yet we STILL did not go outside the TC rules set. We ensured we never took over 20 minutes between games.

So while our co-captain was being ignored on real ID messaging Myrm and had to log on curse client and ask to speak to someone after 30ish minutes of waiting, it basically ended up with the solo admin disregarding the rules set which had previously disqualified another team, and giving jcm the middle finger for abiding by the rules.

EVEN THEN, we didn't ask for SR to be DQ'd, we simply asked that they be penalized 1 point for the wait, which was immediately dismissed and not fairly considered because of the partial solo admin.

Try playing a grand final after all that. Poor Roula had been up since 1am (so sorry to GSC and Ping) and didn't get done until noon. To be fair, SR originally asked to postpone the finals to the following night, but it was not possible for us, several members had irl commitments and only allowed the weekend for the twink cup.

I know any attempt to say this is probably seen as salt or whining, but I don't mind the loss to SR. They're an amazing team and are very much able to beat us when they want to. I'm frustrated at the rules being ignored, and no consideration given to us as a team where from our point of view every consideration was given to the other team.
