Farewell All!

Today I canceled my WoW subscription and uninstalled any game and/or game related program (excluding Nvidia). It was a hard choice, but I have to go with my gut.

Since graduation, I have slowly noticed nearly every one of my former classmates succeeding and surpassing every aspect of my current daily life. I had such a half assed state of mind in my first 3 months of college. I wouldn't get enough sleep, I'd pull all-nighters playing WoW, and sleep 60% of the day. I thought that the web could make up for the huge amount of information I chose to ignore in lectures. I dropped out before my second semester even started. Ever since, I've been embarrassed to tell people what was going on, when their lives are in a whole nother' chapter.

I had always been fascinated with universal sciences and quantum theory. Although that is not my main focus, it is much more productive and inspiring than gaming. It will be a healthy side hobby. I'm not saying gaming is unhealthy for the general public, but for me, it has only caused problems in my life and I can't seem to limit myself. I'll tell myself "1 more hour". Before I know it, it has been 5+ hours.

Will I stop playing wow? No, but I expect to leave for a long, long time. Hopefully when I return, Ill have a lots of GF'd stuff and friends to return to! I also wish this site to prosper and the community to stay in tact!

In the mean time, I will be catching up on basic algebra and physics, and slowly prepping myself for my return to college, with a clean mindset! From there on, I will give my all in studies, and further enlightenment!

It's nice that you're leaving for a good cause - to get your head right.
Goodluck with everything and hopefully you'll be able to comeback in the future and enjoy WoW without it being your main priority.

Good luck Roboartist. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get yourself back on track! Until then, have fun and achieve greatness!

Good choice. Haven't played in almost a year myself. Taking breaks is healthy, especially in cases like yours.

Can I have your gold? :p

Have fun, at the least you can tell yourself that your gaming has given you more confidence :)

But seriously, about the gold... Inbox me.

P.S. Its a joke!

P.P.S. But if you did want to give me your gold.. inbox me

Well stated...
It is good that you recognized it when you did and you made the correct choice. Hopefully you will come back and just take it in moderation. The first step to recovery is acknowledging that you have a problem.

Many of my colleagues have written on the subject of gaming addiction and alcoholism sharing the same symptoms. They are quite interesting studies.

In my case, it was a matter of being in a completely different time zone than everyone in NA, but it still feels good to take a break.
