Multistrike % / rating

For fire/frost mage, crit is probably best. Arcane might want to stack haste, I'm not sure if multi strike is ever worth it for a caster. While Versatility is good for both offense/defense, it has the lowest benefit per point of rating. I've got effectively 27% haste right now on my spriest, that translates to roughly 27% more damage. Not sure versatility could ever get that high.

How come you guys hate on Versatility? 11.58% Damage/Healing increase and 5.76% less damage taken? How is this bad at all

Cause people dont see 11.58 as double dipping. If your a hybrid class it's like 11.58 x 2 and should be a must. Also they may not understand it's not a chance stat. It's a statical stat.

Lol you can't count that as 2x. That same reasoning can be applied to crit, MS, Haste etc because both dmg and healing are affected.

I had been considering full versatility on my priest and shamans because of the flat percentage gains. However, due to Willix's comments, about haste I am considering that as well now.

How much does haste effect your cool down time on a riptide or a mind blast? That could be a deciding factor for me.

Idk where u got the idea that haste would reduce the cd of either of those spells, but it doesnt. Also Willix is very misleading with his statement, haste is most definitly the best thing to stack(wod chant wise) for casters and healers unless crit is needed for a mechanic of the spec. As far as spriest goes, haste lets u get off faster mb and dp combo, and dp lasts shorter and gets a higher extra tick at the end probably, mind flay's channel time reduced so even more burst, and obvious effects on it's dot's. As far as healer goes haste takes over as well, unless u really feel 5% reduced dmg taken will make up for slower heals.

Well I see versatility as the best stats for almost every class by FAR, 11.58% constant damage/healing increase is insane imo and the 5.78% damage reduction is also a big plus, this is like pvp power just even better, I have seen multistrike on a hunter which seems to be decent but no where close to the damage output of versatility and I have seen crit on a feral where I still would go with versatility by no second doubt, but ye.... it is what it is :p

Just wish people would at least try to have versatility in mind since I got mindblown reading 3-4 pages where versatility wasnt even mentioned once so I thought maybe I had overlooked something x)

Anyways nice respond and honey badgers owns!

Very true, I left that out. Any class will benefit from increase in damage along with the damage reduction. Any hybrid will gain 3 benefits from increase damage / healing and damage reduction.

Id also also like to take the opportunity to say GG to Albino for the games I run into him and for being active on P2p along with F2p forums.

I havn't been playing much, if u saw an "albinobunny" that isnt me lol. Lately i've been enjoying prot pally.

I saw Albino in SofA the other day. I blew him a kiss as he was trying to blow up one of my gates. Alas, did not return the favor... /cry

The problem isn't the stat itself, it's how represented the stat is at lower levels. At 100, it's possible to have Versatility on every single piece of gear, all your enchants, gems, AND still have other valuable secondary stats present (because gear at level 100 is itemized for abundance). Low level gear has zero versatility, and aside from human racial, the only other source of it is these enchants.

When many gear slots don't even have secondary stats at this level (and those that do have either crit or haste), you begin to realize just how much better crit or haste are for your character. Melee typically want to stack crit because they are dealing with instant speed attacks and crits mean an extra 50% damage on those hits. More critical attacks seems like a no-brainer for melee. Casters/healers are the opposite. They have to cast spells to be effective, making haste such an incredibly good stat to stack for the sake of getting more spells off within the same amount of time.

That's why everyone and their mother used Herbalism as a profession prior to 6.0.2.

Now, I get it that we have new stats and people want to argue in favor of them. Which would you rather have? ~20% multistrike/~9% versatility or ~35% crit/~27% haste?

Unsure exactly about other classes, but I as a Destro warlock USED to stack crit which prior to 6.0.2 gave you 200% crit damage (so an increase of 100%) and now it gives 150% (increase of 50%) besides from that I used to have 29.5% crit which got down to 11% since I am now lvl 29 and aint fully stacking crit as I used to at 24 I see crit as being a shitty stat in most if not all cases compared to 11.58% damage/healing increase and 5.57% damage taken reduction. That being said I do not know how much crit you total can stack up and get at level 29 as I havnt even bothered trying as it seems so pointless to me. Even before these new stats got into the game I did not stack crit as I would normally have done prior to 6.0.2 since main stats seems insane / spell power compared to crit. I might have misunderstood you totally and sorry for my answer if that's the case as it's early in the morning:p But ye...

Best regards Shamatix / Destroluck

Please tell me if I have this wrong...

Disregarding casters and specs with mechanics that benefit especially with crit: Unless I am missing something the math on crit vs versatility seems simple.

Let's take a melee class (or hunter) sitting at about 25% crit. 70 rating would add 12.6% crit or 9.8% versatility. I'll round those to 12% and 9% for simplicity.

Let's also say ability X hits for 1k. And we use it 100 times.

Crit build (37%) = 118,500 dmg for 18.5% increase

Versatility build (9%) = 109,000 dmg for 9% increase.

Oh but wait a minute. We already had 25% crit...

Versatility build (9% + 25% crit) = 122,625 dmg for 22.6% increase.

The crits benefit from the versatility.

That doesn't even take into account dmg reduction or the increased healing for hybrids.

Also hunters can bring 3% versatility buff with pets.

*edit - I got the 70 rating and conversion from Albinocow's posts and the 25% crit from my hunter and rogue.

Having said all that crit is sexier. I prefer crit on my rogue and versatility on my hunter

Same math presented 2 pages ago, good verification

Yes, versatility benefits from crit, as does multistrike and haste.

The problem isn't whether or not you get a benefit, it's how often you want to see these stats play into your combat. As with pvp power and resilience prior to 6.0, you can't just measure these stats over the long term of hundreds of attacks (or the duration of a BG). Of course Versatility (just like pvp power) would come out on top in that situation. More often, fights are significantly shorter, where you have to think about the choices you are making between each attack, where a couple more crits can turn the tide of a fight. Considering that fights aren't super bursty anymore (outside of feral druids), getting those casts off quicker and having more of those instant attacks crit is typically key to winning fights.

Im playing survival hunter trying out multistrike atm, sitting at 25.63% multistrike (with pet buff) and about 24% crit in bgs and 218 AP.
Its defo worth going multistrike on a survival hunter cause of Survivalist - Spell - World of Warcraft
But thats the only reason to not gear versatility, would max it out on probs anything else!
