This is a community project that I am spearheading. There is a lot of experience to be shared among F2P veterans. This project is to specifically focus on introductory to advanced strategies for one-on-one face-offs, whether in duels, or encounters in a battleground. The target audience is a moderately experienced player who understands the game but perhaps is trying out your class for the first time.
HERE ARE THE RULES AND GUIDELINES
1) Start your post with "How to beat a _____ with a _____." obviously filling in the classes. I want to make it easy for people to scan for the information that applies to their question.
2) Limit yourself to one paragraph. Be concise and precise, make it as informative and digestible as possible: don't rant or ramble.
3) PLEASE LIMIT EACH POST to only discussing ONE pair-off. You will probably have more than one guide, i.e. if your main is a druid, you'll probably want to talk about shaman vs druid, pally vs druid, etc. You can make more than one post, of course, keeping each pair-off in its own post. I would -ask-, but I won't make a stink about it, that you limit your posts to one an hour, or even one a day, so that others have a chance to get in their posts. There's no need to flood the thread.
4) DO NOT post sarcastic, unhelpful posts that don't actually teach someone how to pit an X against a Y. If you don't adhere to this rule, I will report you and have your post removed for being off-topic. I'm trying to create something useful and meaningful for the community, and I will take it personally if you don't respect this.
5) DO NOT REPLY to anyone else's post/guide. I mean it. If you disagree with the advice someone else gives, you can write your own guide. There will be another method for giving your opinion on which guide is the most useful/helpful/accurate, keep reading. This is NOT a place for debate, this is a forum for everyone to give their own perspective. It won't always match yours. Deal with it.
6) WoWhead links to abilities and talents are most welcome. Heck, if you have videos explaining concepts, those are welcome as well. Don't be afraid to reference outside sources to make your guide more informative. (But do keep it concise.)
HOW TO PROMOTE THE GUIDES YOU THINK ARE BEST
I said earlier not to reply or refute another person's post and I meant it. This is not a place for argument. However, I want people to have a chance to promote the information that they think is most helpful and accurate. I also want to give people a little incentive for taking the time to write these mini-guides. So... If you see a post in this thread that you approve of, or agree with, or especially if it has helped you in some way, please give that post a "like". My intent is that a person should be able to come to this thread and find the posts with the most community approval by looking at the number of likes the posts have. This is your way of voting for the most useful information. Be generous: the respondents have taken the time to help out the community!
OK I think that's all I've got, let's get this going. I have no idea how successful this will be, so you guys have a chance to surprise me and to make a difference in the community. I look forward to your responses!
