It’s here. The Pugger Games. Pug Wars. Whatever you want to call it.

The name of the game is to help your pugmates get caps and win.

Re: - F2P Tournament: Coming SOON...

...

How It Works

1.

REGISTER FOR THE TOURNEY. Figure out which characters you want entered into the tourney, and post their names here in this thread. Or, you can send me a private message with the names. Registered characters will be listed here.

2.

Queue up as a single pug or as a team. Remember, the size of the team you face increases the amount of points you’ll get for the win, so setting up games will usually be the best option. Cheesetoast's opponent finder/premade nights thread would be the best place to look for opponents. For those of you who want random team matchups PM me and we can work something out.

3.

Then you'll need to take a screenshot at the start of the game, and the end result of the game. Only the end result will be needed unless:

 • anyone registered in the tourney on the other team AFKs (you'll need the starting screenshot as proof)
 • one of the teams has a difference of 3 or more p2p/24s (that will be explained in the rules section)

TRY TO SNAP A SCREENSHOT RIGHT WHEN YOU ENTER THE GAME. This will help catch any /afkers.

4.

Lastly, in order for your points to be tallied you'll either need to:

 • post the scoreboard(s) in this thread
 • send the screenshot(s) to me in a private message

Scoring

CAPS

+10 per cap

WINS

2v2: +20 pts
3v3: +30 pts
4v4: +40 pts

etc. etc. all the way up to…

10v10: + 100 pts

LOSSES

There are no negative points for losses, but they are counted in your points-per-game average.

However...

YOU EARN DOUBLE POINTS FOR CAPS IN LOSING GAMES. 20 points for 1 cap, 40 points for 2 caps. If you get 2 caps and lose the game, you still get 40 points.

OTHER STUFF

 • Teams will end up playing uneven matches (2v3, 4v6 etc). The scoring for wins would be based off of your opponent's team size. For example if a 2 man team beat a 4 man team, the 2s team would win 90 points. But if the 4 man team beat the 2 man team, they would only win 50 points.
 • If the difference between the number of p2ps/24s on one team is 3 or more than the other team (example 4 24s on 1 team, only 1 24 on the other team), if the team with the disadvantage wins, they get +10 points per p2p/24. If the team with the advantage wins, they’ll have -10 points per p2p/24 subtracted from the win. If you have so many 24s that you end up with zero or negative points for the win, then the game just won't count.

Rules

 • minimum 2 registered players on each team
 • f2p restrictions on gear/enchants/level (f2p monks are allowed)
 • no 60 int buff
 • no glitches
 • max 3 per class
 • Only team comps at the start of the game will be looked at when determining the p2p/24 advantage. If any of your pugmates /afk and are replaced by other players, they will be considered "wildcard" pugs.

Prizes

The top individual scores for the season will be given honorary titles and recorded in the F2P Tournament winners' section.

Top 3 Individual Scorers:
 • 1st - High Warlord, 2nd - General, 3rd - Champion (horde)
 • 1st - Grand Marshal, 2nd - Commander, 3rd - Knight-Captain (alliance)

* There will also be TCG prize(s) for the top individual scorer. The winner will be able to choose from any 1-2 items ($35 total limit)
– see WoW TCG Loot: Cheapest

Info

 • You earn points as a team, but all of the points your team earns also goes toward your individual score.
 • ALL POINTS WILL BE AVERAGED BY THE NUMBER OF GAMES PLAYED to determine the final player score. There will be a MINIMUM REQUIREMENT depending on how many games are happening (we will set the minimum in a month from now, but probably 10-15 games).
 • Players will be allowed to combine scores between all their characters.
 • US and EU will be ranked together.
 • This first season will last 2 months (Feb. 14 - April. 15).

Cheesetoast will convert his thread http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/competitive-games-go-realm-v-realm-sat-sun-55834/ into an Opponent Finder thread so that’s where you’ll want to go to set-up games. He will be keeping his Sat/Sun premade nights and so those would also be good times to get games in.

Other than that it's pretty much all up to you guys to set up games and send in the screenshots. Let's see how this goes B)

Ok so here's what I have to say. This tournament cannot and will not be perfect:

As organisers, we thought the pre-tournament thread would be a great way for people to add their insight into the "could-go-wrongs", the "Rules", the ranking system and how it would all fit into the the way we like to think about our BG's. The thing is, not every idea and opinion will work together, there are too many variables. Because of this, there will always be a large part of the community who feels unsatisfied with the the final decisions that are made. We can't make the perfect tourney and I'm sorry for that.

But we will try. The only way to fix mistakes is to experience them first-hand. So if you're having doubts about the tourney, just see this as a big ongoing experiment (with prizes). We want this to be fair as much as you do and the only way we might have a chance of reaching that goal is if you're behind us and participate. We want to see you play in competitive games, get better as teams, give each other constructive feedback, meet other f2p's interested in this competitive aspect along the road etc., etc.

This coming Friday the 14th the "official" rules (as of yet) will be released and the tourney will begin. It doesn't have to be too serious, but don't hold back in queueing with a friend or two as your team. The more people that participate, the more we will learn about how to improve. Good luck and see you on Friday

tabard of frost and im in :p

Re: - F2P Tournament: Coming SOON...

I kind of feel like the team who wants to win the most will win, rather than the best - if that makes any sense.

I really hope it works out though, best of luck.

Re: - F2P Tournament: Coming SOON...

Gl, to those who partake in this, but usually when things get too competitive, things get sad.

OT: how did phron vote twice???

Thanks man, me too. Rankings are fun

Aye. But they are pugmade games after all so hopefully people won't take it too seriously. never know what your pugs will be

It's a special poll that lets you vote multiple times B)

Re: - F2P Tournament: Coming SOON...

I didn't vote twice!

edit: it appears that I did...

My bad, must have misclicked - I didn't think you could vote twice.

Yo Izac I don't really understand the Blizzard Store prize thing, can.you explain?

Well apparently there are some pretty nice things you can buy here https://us.battle.net/shop/en/ (and you can gift them to other accounts)

The mounts convert to ground mounts and mounts/pets are added directly to your account. Helms are sent through the mail so I'm not sure if F2P's could receive those. Although if a GM was willing to get anything out of the mail for an F2P it would probably be one of those.

The top individual scorer for this tourney will be able to choose one of those mounts as their prize. Or if there's anything else they want from the blizzard store or from the WoW TCG that's equal in value, they could have that instead.

Seems a bit clearer now...so Blizz would award a mount/other item of their choice from Blizz store to the winner? That's the way I see it. :)

Yep B) chance to have your very own large ungulating gold dragon mount

Also, wanted to see what people think about keeping the tournament to 2-5 player teams only? Cheesetoast and I love 10 man premades and such but since not everyone can form 10 mans I'm not sure it would be a good idea.

I got some question izac

1-The winner will be able to choose between mounts, tabard or pets and etc. Does this means that if this was a 5 man team, every 5 will choose his own reward?

2- Who goona pay for our rewards :p?

3-Indiidual scoreres, how that work? every team players will gain and suffer from same amout of points loss right ?

1- Naw, only the person with the top score will get to choose something B)

2- We have an anonymous donor

3- Yes good point. You'll have to mix up your teammates if you want to have the highest score B) or if you want to stick together then we'll have to have a tie-breaker deathmatch or something at the end of the season

I suggest you keep it 2-5 players...not that many f2p realms can go up to 10 players

Picked option 3 and 5.

I'm excited and want it to happen but at the same time, I have a feelin' the thing might flop like previous tourney's.

I've been waiting for your thread, I'm in. Tk, Izac and myself challenge any 3s doing this.

Edit: unless whoever the donor is doesn't mind about the price make the limit 25$ and don't limit it to just the store, make TCG an option also but with the same 25$ limit. This is YOURS and cheese's tounry so do not change the prizes to fit one person and don't change the rules unless it's something you two feel needs to be changed to compensate for something. Tired of a few ruining these tourny-like things for the many just because they are greedy/not wanting to lose.
