Yes. Izac and I talked this over, it's a big factor. It's hard to solve though. One of the problems is that we want to move away from realm v realm. There are players alone on their server who's teams won't be on the same server. So for it to have value as a 2v2 is a bit hazy if people are handing in screen shots of games where theres two enemy players who look like they're teamed up but don't know each other at all. We were thinking maybe a solution would be to have the "free queue days" on the weekends and during the week would be the more planned games.

So I just had an idea - how about having teams "register" by posting to you when they start queueing, and who they will have on their "teams". If they do not post an end-queue time, you could assume that after X amount of time they are done queueing (4 hours, maybe?) unless they message you again.

Messaging could be done via TI private messages (and/or Skype). That would clear up some of the confusion as to who/what is definitively a team.

ok imagine im 5man mag premade vs 5man aggramar, and i sync queue with 5man TN to win, how would u solve that? if i didnt tell you i did it on purpose Izac

Hm well. that sort of thing might happen. We want to keep the tourney as laid back as possible so we can't account for everything. I don't think people will do that though. It's hard to get two groups synced and we're only playing for one TCG/mount prize.. so whoever wants to do that would first need to decide who gets the mount X) or which one of them will be ranked Commander and which one will be the Knight -Captain...

But if we get complaints about it we might end up having a vote to kick them.

But first we'd have a pre-vote to determine whether we want to have a vote in the first place

Then we'd have a post-vote-vote to make sure the voting was the right decision

also if ur counting 24s, what about low geared 20-24p2p or f2p with less then 1.4-1.5k hp.
classes&gear will affect result of the pug, ofc this tourney is just for fun and i would like to do premade vs premade with ranks or not but since im taking this as serious competion, i feel like war games would be best way to do it if possible :)

Aye. Other pugs will just have to be luck of the draw B)

However I'm thinking if there's too big of a p2p/24 advantage on one side we might just want to not count the game rather than award bonus points.. what do you all think?

Feedback:

Why is there an agreement between teams before facing each other, wouldn't screenshots be enough (start and end) making queuing more fun with unpredictability factor not knowing what you might be up against next.

I favor this style of thought over a highly coordinated / regulated system that requires teams to consent to fight the other team.

IMO: Make it chance based. If you are on a F2P team of 2+ people on your realm, and queue into another F2P team with 2+ players from their realm, it is a ranked match. Screenshots can be required, and obviously if the players are unknown / not a part of this event, then no "match" has occurred. There are complications involved with either system, but I think it's easier to queue randomly than having a pre-game agreement to fight.

One purpose of this tourney is to get people away from random queueing. A lot of realms queue randomly with preformed groups and spend a whole lot of time in BGs against uncoordinated pugs just trying to snipe another team. Some of us end up spending hours of our time in non-competitive games when it would only take us 5 minutes to find another team and time our queues with them

But you guys are right that it needs to be more random. We were thinking middle-men, but that's gonna be too much work. We will still keep our random premade nights that Cheesetoast will host, but for any other time of the week here's an idea:

What if we designate some random server as kind of a match setup realm? Teams could make level 1 characters on that realm and look for games in f2pchat in a separate WoW window and time queues with their opponents that way. They would just have to say "3s team looking for 2s/3s/4s team to face". Everyone could remain anonymous B)

I'm all for this idea, however I see many ways to game this system as others have pointed out, and I have less faith than you do Izac that people won't bother to leverage every advantage. Despite the orientation towards an individual and team tournament, a lot of people have a lot of pride and ego invested in their server, and it seems more likely than not that people will ply every reasonable advantage. The easiest one and the first I thought of, which was already mentioned in the thread, is simply refusing to face a team without assurance of victory, and/or blackballing whomever happens to be in the lead so that they can't maintain their lead.

Again the concept of the tournament is good and the idea of doing community events like this is great, but I fear there are too many vulnerabilities in this particular plan. I will most likely not be participating. Please don't take it personally.

Atleast we know Izac made the rules un-biased, otherwise he would give additional points to whichever team had more CC's

CCing is banned, too big of an advantage. See this thread for a list of banned spells http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/mop-cc-35010/

well Lance Armstrong got away with cheating for how many years? it happens in life, can't prevent all of it. didn't ruin the sport.. people still race bicycles

but to anyone who wants to cheat just make sure you do a good job of it so that the rest of us can at least think we lost fair and square

Cheaters always win, unless they get caught

There's no guarantee people will win at this even if they cheat. There's always the pug factor. But we'll be able to compare scoreboards and such and watch for that kind of thing B)

Anyway, I'm thinkin Fizzcrank will be a good match setup realm for US, and Kul Tiras would probably work for EU. Can anyone who plays EU let us know if Kul Tiras is a good choice? Need a realm that doesn't have an active f2p population. Just want f2p chat to be clear for match-making

no idea about kul tiras, but i'm currently the only person running the f2p addon on aszune EU if that helps.
