Getting Back into Twinking

Hey Guys,

Its been awhile now since I've had a twink. I just started playing again after about 3+ years.
I have read through some on the threads on the forums here but most things don't make sense (because I don't really understand the lingo).

What do I need to know now?
How much have things changed?
Is there a bracket that has quicker que times?
Is it better to have a twink in Shadowlands or Vanilla?

Thank you in advance :)

In short, due to xp-on toons and xp-off toons being in separate BG ques, only 20s and 50s get casual games (and Im told some 39s wargames are happening? Is that still a thing?)

If you'd like to know more about 20s, read this
If 50s sound more your speed, theres this and I'll tag @zazzyfraz in here as he's our resident 50s expert.
Yeah, thanks to Zazzy I've decided on the 50 bracket because it just sounds more fun. Like I don't wanna or really plan on buying SL anytime soon because I refunded it after they pushed the date back again. I hate end game and I don't raid or anything so 50s are like the new 110/111 for me now but with a lot more grinding to do for the cloak and gear.

Hey bro. Good to see you as well. I need a tutorial on the game after about 8 years or so away. Thinking about checking it out these days. Any suggestions?

Your timing is uncanny, in that the level squish Shadowlands wrought makes WoW feel kind of like it did many years ago. Chops' post contains the best jumping off points for the current best twinking options. It's early yet in the expansion, and I imagine twinking will see more momentum this summer after 9.1 lands.

My speculation based on what I see here on the XP-off forums and from hearsay is that 20s and 50s will be the go-to brackets simply because they get games any time, and 39s will eventually become the twice-a-week bracket for players looking for a less casual experience. I'd say start with 20s or 50s.
