PTR Party sync and max levels in low level bg's

So while everyone else is thinking of the possibilities of the repeatable quests from party sync, I have a much bigger worry in mind, and that is my worry for how it will affect the different twink brakcets.

Party sync allows higher level players (there is no level cap listed, so I am assuming any level can que with anyone) to que for instanced content with lower level players, including bg's.

So they state that the higher levels will be scaled down to the appropriate level and lose abilities for the levels they lost. But my concern is about how they will scale, will you be scaled to the upper level (19,29,39 etc) or will you be scaled to the same level as the person you're queing with.

I am also worried about what kind of ilvl a fully pve geared 120 would be scaled to in the lower level brackets.

not sure how this will all work. is it only scaled down? would that make 59-70 twinks op if it scales down and if it scales up? I kind of like the idea if questing over and over since sooth has eluded me on so many toons.

I have a feeling they are gonna disable at the very least procs from weapons at higher levels than the bracket. Stat distribution however, will be interesting.

Does this mean we would be able to play demon hunters in 19s?

Auto-attack for the win!

Basically timewalking exclusively for premades. Imagine boomkins scaled down to 20 only with dragonwrath, Unholy Dks with shadowmourne and fallen crusader, arcane mages with https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=168275/anu-azshara-staff-of-the-eternal&bonus=4798:1487 and https://ptr.wowhead.com/item=167865/void-stone&bonus=4798:1517 lmfaoo it would totally ruin pvp for pure f2p and probably make veteran accounts completely obsolete.

This statement may cover that:

"Please note that unlike Timewalking, when your level is scaled down via Party Sync you will temporarily lose access to abilities and powers (such as Azerite traits) with requirements that exceed your reduced level."

I honestly don't think these items are gonna be nearly as strong as you think(if blizzard does a decent job). So let's say unholy strength for example, 15 % of your strength and a plate user at 20 has about 140-160 ish so it would be much worse than normal crusaders that vets are already running. And if we compare voidstone to for example AGM it's only a 250 or so shield. As long as Blizzard scales it correctly I don't think 120's will make f2p/vet's obselete.

I smell a lot of "if" coming off this plan

Obviously it's depending on blizzard actually making sure everything is scaled properly, but I don't honestly see a world where 120's will make vets obselete. I can say this with decent confidence because that would mean they would also be stomping levelers and we saw that blizzard don't like levelers getting stomped since they seperated xp on and xp off again.

Edit: but yeah there might be some whacky scaling out of the gates but hopefully it will be patched up as we go.

I expect that this will be the case

But the sheer amount of gear with various procs available to higher levels will still attract a few people towards queuing high level toons into lower level brackets. I don't imagine it'll be widespread but they'll exist as an annoyance

Can't wait 'till 8.2.5 hits PTR. Some things to test is that high level can legally tinker belts and all that stuff which requires just profession, but not level. Interesting to see if it will work.

An interesting tidbit: almost all the demon hunter abilities/spells have a level requirement of one, while death knights have their relevant abilities only available in their mid 50's and up. If it's possible to play either in low level bg's post patch, they'd have to rework the level requirements for DK which seems unlikely imo. Source of this info is the wowhead talent calculator.

Assuming blizzard got the scaling of gear/procs/abilities right, having DKs and DHs in the 20s would be kinda cool. Though, double jump would be kinda lame.

What other reason would they have for implementing bg scaling? Nobody said they wanted this directly, however; tons of people have expressed their desire to use old gear like legendaries in pvp. Time walking for bgs would have to be for that purpose from a logical perspective. I mean, wouldn't you just tell your friend that wants to queue low level BG s "no thanks" if it took away all the cool stuff on your character? There's currently no other incentive besides playing with your friend, but I have a small hunch that blizzard is implementing this system specifically for twinks. And, that doesn't even seem crazy to me tbh. They just seperated xpoff and xpon and this system potentially allows twinks from every single bracket to queue into each other. I personally kind of doubt max level characters would scale down to 20, but maybe something like 20-60, 60-90 etc.

The new twinking will be outfitting a 120 with op proc gear, multiboxing with a 19 toon and queing wsg.

The 10v10 matches will be filled with toons that are "afk" serving as anchor toons for the 120s.

Caveat to this, you probably wont need to join the match with the lvl 19 you'll just need it to queue.

Sorry but what 120 in their right mind wouldn't go farm TBC gear for the sockets, Ramstiens etc etc and have that scale rather than their max level gear. If the way the current items have been squished is anything to judge by the TBC HC gear would be broken af scaled down.

The last squish made a mockery of gear between level 80 and 100, where TBC socketed gear on an 85 has better Primary stats ( when gemmed ) than Cata HC gear when gemmed. I very much doubt Blizzard is capable of making the system work without leaving some broken items available to the higher levelled scaled down toons.
