I'm not sure that this items could be epic.(+Bonus 10armor? ~= 1,7397% decrease physical dmg) You can farm it nonstop with bug (Kill one of mob -> Get on top of the beam at the boss -> Mobs respawn)
-> yup, there is the bug
it wont upgrade to epic, but they have better stats now after 8.1.5
same thing happened to the fang gear

This can not scale to ilvl 32 because it is not a rare specific drop.

How do we truly know this though? Because foremans drops epic and he himself is not a rare, but the loot he drops is specific to him. The mobs surrounding him are not rare as well and they have dropped an epic petrified shinbone. I think it is too soon to come to that conclusion.

Wait a few days / weeks and see if any epic turn up on AH

I have not seen the confirmed foreman s epic

they also drop plate gloves from stockades. it has been bugged for generations. hardly counts as mob specific.
cold iron pick from the skeletons
shinbone from dynamiters
gauntlets from excavators

rompers thistlenette
girdle of noblity-brainwashed noble(no doesnt drop it anymore)

it isnt "bugged" for generations those were their drops in vanilla(back when they were BoE). But lazy fucks at blizzard being so lazy(my best guess) instead of making new items for stockades took existing drops and added them there.

Nobles Robe aswell.

Interesting. Do they scale? i.e did they drop at req 15 ilvl 20?

You know it never once occurred to me to check, I had to go log in. Yes, scaled fine:

I might give it another hour or so later today, but that'll be enough for me if none upgrade.

I think youd still probably be better off with vers, you're losing damage to every attack to add 50% to one or 2.

Crit only benefits the few% you can stack it, while vers benefits every attack, even your crits. Like 98% more use.

Saying, 2% crit will only give you 50% to 2 attacks while that same 2% as vers is to 100% of them.

100 damage for 100 casts = 10,000
100 for 98 casts and 2 crits = 10,100
102 for 100 casts = 10,200

You're gonna do crits with or without that extra crit rating, and vers benefits those too. Extra crit doesn't.

First of all where did you get the info that crits do 50% extra damage? It is in fact 100%.
Thus your little example goes out of the window.

Second of all you have to take into account two things:
  • how ratings convert to percentages
  • how much stats you already have
For level 20 arcane mage rating to % conversion looks like this
  • 1 crit rating = 0,29% crit
  • 1 haste rating = 0,31% haste
  • 1 versatility = 0,25% more damage
My blood elf lvl 20 arcane mage has following stats:
  • 174 int
  • 20.19% crit
  • 4.6% haste
  • 4.91% more dmg from versatility
I use following formula to estimate dps gain:

Int * (1 + Crit%) * (1 + Haste%) * (1 + VersDmg%)

Dps increase for each additional point looks like this:
  • 1 int gives 0.57% more damage
  • 1 crit rating gives 0.24% more damage
  • 1 haste rating gives 0.29% more damage
  • 1 versatility rating gives 0.23% more damage

mate... in bgs, crits are only 50% extra damage

OK, with that in mind calculations for my character would look like this:
  • 1 int gives 0.57% more damage
  • 1 crit rating gives 0.13% more damage
  • 1 haste rating gives 0.29% more damage
  • 1 versatility rating gives 0.23% more damage
If I try to avoid crit as much as possible my best stats will look like this:
  • 171 int
  • 9.48% crit
  • 11.66% haste
  • 8.84% more dmg from versatility
and potential dmg increases would look like this:
  • 1 int = 0.58%
  • 1 crit rating = 0.14% more dmg
  • 1 haste rating = 0.27% more dmg
  • 1 versatility rating = 0.22% more dmg
Given offensive & defensive potential versatility would be winner among secondaries but for pure dps haste is.
