US Playing catch-up, gear help

Hey guys, I haven't played since start of MoP so obviously have missed a shitload.
Looking through here appears the gear guides are out-dated. I've just finished leveling my first f2p account char to 20, fromage. Wondering if anyone has a uptodate list of BiS gear or links to chars that are wearing it.

Yes pure f2p, although blizz account is linked so do get some heirlooms. What wand is bis and why is this??

Basically gear doesn't do anything anymore, everyone's stats are the same unless you have item level above a certain limit (35?) then it gives a small stat boost

Have a question. What places can F2p chars get too, besides E.K & Kalmi. Can we get to dalaran and all that?
 
Wotlk NP, just take the boat. FP to dal is already learned, I think it's 2g to fly there. MoP we can take a mage portal if you can get someone to do it for you. WoD I'm not sure about, but don't think so. If you have legion you might be able to take portal to new dal, in fact pretty sure you can. But if you are f2p working off the battle chest that's one exp behind you can't get to legion areas.

If you can get a mage portal to Pandaria, you will have access as a F2P to all areas other than Legion. From the Pandaria main city you can get to Northrend and Outland. Though as @Hashbrowns mentioned you can get to Northrend by boat.
And in Pandaria, if you can make the trek to the Timeless Isles, there is a secret teleporter in an underwater cave that can get you to Draenor. So technically, from Pandaria you will have access to all content other than Legion. The only exceptions are Isle of Quel'danas and Deepholm, both of which would require a dungeon summon or lock summon.

As 100% ridiculous as this sounds, it's actually pretty simple to get to. There's a host of YouTube videos on where it is.

Someone a while back posted a nifty tip about naming one of your pets "PortToShrine" and then emoting /point at mages and then your pet. High levels cant see our /say but they can see our emotes

Its a bit of a corpse drag fiasco from Shrine to get to the timeless aisle (at least it was for me) but once there, theres a FP. So after the first go 'round, Draenor is pretty easy to get to.

Lol - I know what you mean about a corpse drag fiasco!:eek:
Something that can help ease the pain I've found is the good ol' http://www.wowhead.com/item=122124/darkmoon-cannon. And if you can get your hands on some http://www.wowhead.com/item=109076/goblin-glider-kit then it really does make things a bit easier. I know the Gliders aren't that readily available as F2P and you would want to use them sparingly but I find the Cannon - Glider combo can help you cover good distances, especially if you find a high spot to launch from!
The Cannon is a pain to obtain, but so worth it if you like exploration.
 
Awesome, yeah I want to get to pandaria to get a lv1 hat for transmog. Seeing heap of players with 'felforged' gear, can you still get this stuff?

At this point in time, the answer is no. There was a pre-Legion launch event which used to drop boxes that contained the Fel-Forged Gear. But we haven't seen any events like it since. Once Legion went live the invasions stopped and we haven't seen the boxes since. Whether they bring out some form of event like it down the track, I'm not too sure. My gut says it's probably unlikely we'll see the Fel-Forged Gear again.:(
 
Managed to get myself to Shrine, died and ran down to jade forest, res'd and it sent me all the way back to shrine fml

Oh, sorry I misread your post. You died and travelled in ghost form to Jade Forest. No, that will only send you back to where you died. Lol - I tried to do that while exploring Mt Hyjal and after a massive long run from Ashenvale felt like throwing my keyboard at the wall when it sent me back to Ashenvale! :mad:
Ok, if you are trying to get out of the Vale into other area's, I went to the western end of the Vale (near where there is some Mantis dudes) and died in a high spot near the wall. If you are high enough you may just be able to rez on top of the wall. From there run along the wall till you get to a flight path and get the flight path! You will probably die several times doing it, but once you get the first FP you're away! The rest of Pandaria is yours to explore! :)

Noted : edited to read 'western' end of Vale!
 
Awesome I'll give that a shot instead haha! Did you do any other cool things while in pandaria
