Your favourite Band/Artist

I am old enough. Do the math yourself.

Well, I would think the math would work out something like this:

-You say that you have listened to 5 million songs and you are 25 years old (but we can round that up to 26)
-So you have been alive for 13, 665, 600 minutes
-Presuming on the low-end that you've had on avg. say 6 hours of sleep a night, that would be 3, 332, 160 min you couldn't be actively listening to new songs
-That brings you down to approx. 10 million waking minutes to listen

-5 million songs (listening to each one only once) on an avg. of 3 min per song would be 15 million minutes
(and I would think that 3 min is a fair avg. considering your broad taste including jazz or classical compositions that are often much longer than that)
-Even with an avg. 2 min per song, it still seems utterly impossible

Anyhow, not trying to rip on you. As I said before, I agree with what you were saying in your post; there really is so much good music out there. It was just the numbers that seemed absurd.

Happy listening.

Not being elitist here or anything, but yea if you say you have like 3 or 4 favorites, then you're missing out

What's this supposed to mean? Are you implying that you can't listen to thousands upon thousands of artists and still only have one favourite band?

I have one favourite band that I've loved for nearly a decade. That doesn't mean I don't love any other band out there. In fact, There's at least 20 bands I love, but I still have one favourite band, because favourite mostly implies one.

I listen to hundreds upon hundreds of genres/subgenres, and have a library with 12301 different songs in it, and 8162 artists. Yet I still only have one favourite band.

Im saying I just couldn't understand how someone can choose a favorite out of hundreds or thousands of awesome songs. One day you'd wanna listen to 1 band and the next you might wanna listen to another. Now in terms of concert and live performance, I can understand. But In terms of overall artistry, no one should choose 1 or 2 favorites considering there are a lot of other artists out there that they haven't probably experienced.

Its like saying pudding is your favorite snack (great now im hungry for pudding), but then you eat too much of it and suddenly you are tired of pudding (lol nobody gets tired of pudding). So what now, will you continue to eat the pudding? Or have a slice of that succulent, frosted Lemon cake waiting at the back of the pantry? Now Im going to get fat because of you, thanks.
