I reject this statement. Sometimes it's said a picture can be worth a thousand words and the memes often used to replace words are a more accurate and sincere statement of emotion. Pictures can have facial expression, body language and a wide range of meaning that cannot be put into words, ontop of that it can strike an empathetic cord far more easier than words as a result, which can end up being funny as well because of that enhanced meaning.
In other words memes are the superior form of communication
