The best strat is to adapt. I usually find myself using multiple "strats" before there's even a cap. Going into wsg with a "plan" isn't going to work against top players.
Your best bet is to roll every single viable class and spec. You then want to push yourself to play your absolute best on each. Eventually you'll find what you enjoy the most and become a better player. For some it doesn't take much time while others need half an expansion or more. Most important thing is to listen to better players.
