World of Warcraft movie...

A while back, like 2-3 maybe 4 years ago there were talks of a world of Warcraft movie being made with live actors. Does anyone else remember this. It was even said by blizzard themselves. I was just wondering if anyone has heard if this is still planned to come out. Has it been scrapped. Was it just some silly rumor. Anyone with any knowledge of this, any info would be much appreciated.
 
Yeah i remember the rumors, been hoping for that film for ages now, no news to add sadly if not a /hope.

I would defo pay to see such film.
 
It's happening still. They got the Director from the Spiderman movies. Its gonna come out sometime in 2013 or 2014 probably.

You fail to mention the part where a long time ago he pulled out due to other commitments.



Other than that, the movie's pretty much been swept under the rug.

I thought I read somewhere that Sam Raimi was going to be directing it. It is currently on hold due to him being busy with other projects (Wizard of Oz). There probably will come out a movie, question is when.
 
I wonder how a movie based on a video game would turn out, we all know what happens when they make games out of movies...

I'd say if the books tell anything, the hardcore fans of the lore would be pleased with the movie, but most people would certainly hate it. The last warcraft book i read was "Arthas: Rise of the Lich King" and what i thought about it is that, where the game didn't tell anything, the story was pretty solid, but when it came to the events of Warcraft 3, it became a bit strange, there were some gaps (where the game took over) that unsettled me, i thought the book could describe more why he did what he did, not just the actions and the consequences, as in the game.

Plus, some people don't like all that fantasy, so the movie could be a total fail and the quality and popularity of the title "Warcraft" would be very compromised. That's what i think.
 
I personally think that if the movie were made it it would be amazing. WoW Have an amazing lore and as long as the movie Have a good Cast and sticks to the lore (pref the WC3 one) it Will be hats to fail.
 
if youve ever seen a book to movie adaptation then you know it wont be good, it'd be even harder to go from a game to a movie imo, especially one with as much depth and small details as wow

even the harry potter movies left tons to be desired. i never read the whole trilogy but if that is spot on then hats off for LotR, but that would be the exception to the rule...cuz any other solid book to movie projects are far and few between
