Will new BOA sets ruin twinking?

So I don't think we have any information on BOA items yet except that Blizz will be implementing new BOA items that can be used from lvl 80-85 as they don't want to give anyone a leveling advantage with the current BOA's once cata hits.



These new BOA's will also scale 1-85 and will fill additional slots like boots, helm, shield etc. But wouldn't this hurt the player experience in the XP-on bracket. You can already see a difference in BOA wearing players in XP-on bg's. This may also effect the XP-off bracket.
 
XP on bracket with more BOAs will be just like twinks vs none twinks of old. XP wont matter because they will just mail pretty much all of their gear to a waiting level 14 or whatever.



As much as I like the BOAs the only fair solution would be to make them unusable in BGs.
 
I used to intensely dislike BoAs, because I didn't have an 80 and thought it was pretty much an unfair advantage. But the truth is, it isn't that hard to get an 80, and once you get there you can get 2-3 BoAs a day straight heroic farming. If you aren't getting them you're gimping yourself, and the addition of more will only make it easier and cheaper to make twinks in the long run. Though I can see complications from having ONLY BoA gear.
 
they should make purple gear that you buy with honor for every bracket. Think how great it would be to save up your honor for epics instead of a tabard.
 
Another consideration is how the new BOAs will be obtained. Guild BOAs have been mentioned so it is possible that people without an 85 will be able to get them. Assuming that the requirements for a given guild to get BOAs are not ridiculous this would be a good thing.

good point. hopefully it's just time in game that matters which it probably will be.
 
I really don't mean to be rude, but all this speculation is feeding soooooooooo many threads about "Will XXXXXX kill twinking?" and "OMGZ TWINKIN IS DED".



Twinking is always going to be alive in some fashion or another. Whether you actively participate in BGs or whether you hunt achieves or want to be the lvl 10 guy with 100 pets, or whatever.



Twinking is here to stay, no matter what. It may not always be the glory that it was pre-bc or when we found out we could use leg armor kits, etc, but it's still going to exist and people will still have fun with it.



Just my $0.02.
 
3.2 didn't kill twinking, nothing will. Haha.

You have to be a donor to thank.
 
There will be no boa's in cata, they have stated this many of times on different posts.

The only way you can get additional xp onto your leveling is through the guild perks, if your guild actually specs into a talent which gives you extra xp once you have killed a mob.

End of story.

noone said anything about getting extra XP or anything about the desire to lvl faster. There will be BOA's in cata the old ones won't give xp bonus or stat increases from lvl 80-85. and you have to be lvl 85 to obtain the new ones that will work from lvl 1-85.

Heirlooms in Cataclysm

Existing heirlooms are currently set to provide bonus experience up to level 80, so you'll be able to outfit eligible Goblin and Worgen characters right from the start. New heirloom items will also be available for purchase, and those items will allow you to gain bonus experience all the way up to level 85.



Now, as beta testing continues, certain aspects of this system may be adapted, but we've no current plans to prevent the use of existing heirlooms in Cataclysm.

Hopefully people will stop posting things they don't know anything about and actually follow blue quotes from now on. (Take it all with a grain of salt though as things do change.. often)



It's one thing to theory craft, but blantantly stating false info really does no one here any good.



Edit: Also, guilds will gain Guild BoAs from Guild Experience Levels. There are no more Guild Trees. MMO-Champion is a decent source of info.
 
Having BoAs for every slot will only hurt those who are not dedicated to twinking. Anyone who's dedicated to their twink will get all the BoA gear they need to compete.
 
How the hell would it kill twinking? Twinks with with Boas are already at an advantage than those without them, so if you're too lazy to get to 80 or 85 then suffer the consequences. Being a warrior im really happy we're gonna get a mail headpiece. Also only clothies will be wearing the lucky fishing hat. I'm sick of seeing that damn thing.

And yeah, I used to be bitching about BoA's when they came out, cause I was to lazy to level. But when I really decided to level a toon to 80, I went from 72-80 in 3 days (74-80 in 2). It was not hard, but the difficulty of leveling, is to just decide to put 100% effort into it, and then it becomes easy. and sort of fun to lvl. :)

But damn, almost worth coming back, just for the tabards! :p



Just because I'm lazy! Whats the price for the different ones? More or less than Battle Standard?

You can trade your WSG marks for honor. I guess you have 100 marks and that will cover the cost of one of the cool tabards.
