i. Why do YOU twink?!
ii. When did YOU start twinking?!
iii. What is/was YOUR favorite xpac?!

i. I seen a 19 Rogue riding a turtle mount at Goldshire. He had Throat Piercers, so he was the real deal. Had everything I could think of and more. Immediately made me want to make something similar to his Rogue but a different class cuz, lol Rogues right. Friends at work played WoW and knew of twinks so they luckily had a few twink alts and helped me learn how to commit to a video game/team.

ii. I started twinking in early TBC. 19s and then I made a 29 and then a 39. It was a dark time for how large of a noob I was. I thought if you turned auto-attack off and on, as fast as I could, it would attack faster. Between my normal rotation. NOOB! I remember lurking ebay for TCG packs. Paypal was red-hot from my transaction activity, lol.

iii.
My favorite xpac novelty wise: was Wrath of the Lich King. Special warm fuzzies when I think of Naxx raiding and 19s. Was so dark and toxic then that I liked it. Was fun indulging in the "bracket culture" I wouldn't change anything. Balance and competitiveness wise: Mist of Pandaria. I played Demo Warlock then and the class/spec had such a utility bag. Leaping around as a huge Demon with a scary voice was truly magical for a noob like me. Plus my chick played with me briefly and my friends treated her really well. Was a fun time overall personally...

Good Post, Love is to strong an adjective to use here.

1. I don’t currently twink, I am a F2P and @Chops told me they are not twinks.

2. I made my first twink back in WotLK after being oneshotted by a 19 twink rogue in my first ever bg, good times.

3. Mop was fun

i. I twink to show what's possible with gearing. When someone says it can't be done, or it would be really difficult, coming through with a shining counterexample and then rallying people to a cause makes me happy. I love that Shadowlands brings the best of all worlds, with easy-gearing lower brackets (and ultra-high gear ceilings if you really want to spend months min/maxing) and harder-gearing upper brackets, and different gearing options depending on desire and playstyle.

ii. My WoW experience started in 2.3 (TBC). I tried playing BGs for the first time and got my ass handed to me by someone much better in every way (which has not changed over the years). When I learned that people made "twinks" to bully people, for giggles and great justice I made an "anti-twink" healer just before 2.4. Which of course I later realized was actually a twink. Everyone expected twink dps, but nobody expected a twink healer to show up, and that made for a lot of fun.

iii. I'll choose Wrath as my favorite expansion, not because of the content itself (although that was good), but because we got to take part in the first formation of a dedicated twink community. The first XP-off patch culled a lot of gankers out of organized PvP, and the herculean efforts people made to get games remain unparalleled to this day. The current expansion really is pretty amazing, and it's too bad the WoW community simply doesn't have the size it used to. If 5X the players were doing WoW now the way they were doing WoW in Wrath, every bracket would get games.

it all started with me being too lazy to level in vanilla and just wanted to do bgs at whatever level i am at, then i saw some twinks and copied their gear.

Then you find out their gear wasn't even BiS so you got to make another twink char.

Then you find out the supposed BiS twink wasn't BiS either and you have no exp left to complete the quest chain for e.g. https://classic.wowhead.com/item=6727/razzerics-racing-grips - so you got to make another twink again. Eventually you were fully BiS and was way more superior than anyone else near your level.

I twink cuz solo endgame pvp is kinda shite (its only fun with a group of friends and ALL my friends who play endgame quit already), and slands engame pve is also a little shite. Also using optimized stats and gears for classes is what i like to try getting (it's harder to do that in endgame since the good gear requires you to sit through weekly lockouts etc.). So what i do now is play FF14 for pve content and wow for pvp content

Started twinking in cata when they allowed us f2p scum to play for free, whenever my sub ran out, id be f2p twinking. First twink was a dwarf paladin, it was just a normal character but i got rekt by twinks in bgs and then i discovered this meme of a website called twinkinfo :D my paladin is kinda retired now but he's still in my character list. My 2nd (and main) twink is enrageleek, created when they allowed warriors to charge in combat, it also made me a warrior main in endgame.

Fav twink expansion, id say MoP aside from hunters, WoD aside from ferals and Slands aside from gear that MUST be acquired through weird wrapping of packages and other funny methods that get patched instantly

I’ve always loved battlegrounds but despised the constant grind to stay valid or even compete against bis geared raiders or arena players, this gives me an outlet to just do what I love about wow bg until my eyes and brain hurt xD
Even better if it’s with other chillers in a group!

I also have have always loved healing on wow and it brings me back even when I’ve had huge breaks, there’s something about it that’s different and more engaging to me than other games where I could play a healer and yeah.. good times.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I actually have had the most fun thus far with this xpac, so much to do and so many cool places to explore with another sub :3 mind you I dunno if I could do the gear grind on more than two toons cause it’s quite time consuming and demanding this time around!
Cactchya in the gulch buds <3 ;)

1. I like the gearing procces in SL, the fact that I'm playing the whole game(rip cata) and not just 4 endgame zones which are an endless grind fest. Also the game feels really balanced at 20 just like the old expansions when everything was simple.

2. I was leveling a mage with a friend and we matched a lvl 24 warrior twink in dungeons who queued tank but switched to fury and solo cleared the whole dungeon. It was dead stratholme so we struggled a bit on Rammstein the gorger since it's bugged so I had plenty of time to see the twink in action. Dm'ed him after the dungeon and asked a few things, he was kind enough to answer all of my questions. Then I put the twink project on hold until I matched another twink who explained tons of stuff to me. From xp on/off to BG meta, talasites, stats, gearing, etc. And that hooked me on twinking.

3. I play 20s since SL but have some xp playing a 79 dk in wotlk so I'd say WotLK/MoP were my favorite. Not because of twinks but the overall vibe was best.

1-I never really knew what a concept of "Twinking" is. I just knew it from someone way back in Cata's Starter Edition's release when I was spamming Wailing Caravans just to get the last boss' Shoulders for weeks. Guy told me are you a twink, and from there guess I can consider myself "Twinking" in a way.

2-After I stopped paying monthly subs around Cata time, thought I can try the Starter Edition. And from there I never looked back and just continued being f2p till now.

3-Honestly I hate everything. I Should have left the game back in cataclysm.

i. I usually end up twinking when I have no more interest in endgame. Its a lot shorter and once you're geared... you can just play. little upkeep besides with like balance patches/fixes. Theres TOO much to keep track of endgame pvp wise, other than all the classes spells, you also have to know what covenant they picked to try to counter it. I'm too lazy for that now.

ii. WOTLK level 60s. Back when your account status was per xpac that you bought. You'd just buy one of those 5$ Vanilla accounts without any xpacs, play/level and have your main boost you through stuff like AQ40 in order to gear. (RIP legacy bonuses) There was also this weird like 14-day trial thing for BC you could enable in order to get TBC socket gear (Funny that it was BiS then and mostly BiS now)

iii. I have only really twinked 60s in wotlk and now, an I've never done the whole TBC/Vanilla twinking because I like mounts in BGs (unpopular opinion I know). And not being able to re-gear because of fear of leveling above 19/29 also feels strange but I'd probably end up liking it.

You guys are all lying, everyone knows that the real reason to twink is to cope with our insecurities and lack of skills to play high-end content since we are all bad at the game and need to stomp levelers to feel good about ourselves while pretending to have achieved something!

Jokes aside,

i. Why do YOU twink?!

This is actually kind of a funny one; I first started playing WoW during Classic's rerelease in 2019 (yes I had never touched WoW in my life prior to this, no I'm not a zoomer) on a crappy notebook because it was pretty much the only thing I could properly play on it, but got bored of the game in about 4 months and went to try retail out. However, the game was quite taxing on my notebook. I was able to play it but barely, which made me decide to stick to the free trial and experience as much of the game as I could at level 20, so I leveled pretty much every job to 20 to have a feeling of how their abilities and playstyles worked. I absolutely loved Fury Warrior, Windwalker Monk, Marksmanship and Survival Hunter, then I started gearing my Warrior through the couple vanilla dungeons we had access to during BFA. Through that gearing process I met some people who introduced me to xpoff and then I officially started twinking in early 2020.

ii. When did YOU start twinking?!

During BFA's 8.3 patch.

iii. What is/was YOUR favorite xpac?!

BFA because of a couple reasons; Raging Blow had 2 charges, Enrage used to boost Haste by 25% and I had obscene amounts of fun playing a petless MM Hunter with Lone Wolf. My favorite thing to do was to hop into my Hunter and snipe as much people as I could in the open world. Duskwood and Westfall were amazing for that, particularly the latter. Since I was pretty avidly farming Foreman, I constantly bumped into levelers doing quests inside the mines. The slaughter was so fucking fun. The best part was just outside the mines though, I used to jump into the roofs of Moonbrook houses and snipe every single living being that happened to be in my sight. It was priceless to throw a Freezing Trap from a roof into the entrance of a house a leveler was inside, locking them into an inevitable Aimed Shot. The sheer confusion in their minds from getting trapped after leaving a house was so blissful, I really couldn't get enough of that. At the time I started using the WeizPvP addon just so I could track each and every person who was nearby. It didn't matter if they were inside or outside houses, I would still know their location and blast them off.

One thing I also loved doing was to pick a fight with any high level alliance player who happened to be close by. I would attack them and then run off to the mines while putting a Freezing Trap in the entrance, so they would follow me and get insta locked down. I would then pop an Elixir of Swiftness and run off deep inside the mines while being furiously chased down, only for the person to see me entering the Deadmines dungeon portal. It was insanely fun to waste their time!

There was one time that I killed a female human mage and repeatedly camped their body, killing her again and again until a human male mage (probably the female mage's husband or whatever idk) showed up and tried to gang up on me with her, ultimately leading to both of them getting clapped a couple times until they decided to take ress sickness. They both were close to level 30, getting owned by a level 20 must have been embarrassing.

So yeah, as much as Shadowlands improved twinking, BFA had its glorious epic moments that will be forever treasured in my heart.

1: Why? I *started* because I wanted to be OP in bgs. Like everyone else. I kept doing it because I really liked WOW but I don't have the time or inclination to deal with end game. Twinks are a great way to really work on and build a character over time without feeling like if you step away for a week or two, you're gonna be behind for the rest of the xpac.

I'm also of the opinion that F2P is a better MMORPG than the full, paid game. If you want to play WOW without a lot of the bullshit thats made end game an insufferable mess, plays 20s. Or classic, I guess.

2. I had a "twink" as early as vanilla. I didn't have a serious twink until... late tbc?

3. In terms of my favorite expansion content as it currently exists in game, its (maybe controversial here) but BFA. I love the zone design, really enjoyed the questing and leveling. Tirigard feels like a real actual, living city and not just a hearthstone and AH hub. Its great. Stoked to revisit it in 9.1.5 when Drustvar opens up for f2p. Favorite in terms of experiencing it when it was live? TBC. Of course.

i. Why do YOU twink?!

Because it's free and I met so many people there.

When I started playing World of Warcraft, I didn't know what a MMORPG was. I didn't even know what multiplayer was. I only used to play the solo campaign from my favorite RTS games. So everytime, I used to play against the AI computer. One of these RTS, called Warcraft III, made me curious about what seemed to be the continuity of the Warcraft universe.

That's how I joined the World of Warcraft Starter Edition.

And when I met so many players for the first time of my life, that's why I stayed twink and never felt the necessity to level up.

People usually tell me "wait, you're still playing lvl20 today since the day you discovered WoW?

Yes, and why should I try another level with another community?

I'm feeling good where I am.

It's the first time of my life I met so many players whose many of them became my friends, IRL or IG. Earlier this year I met one friend I used to play with during 10 years, and some years ago I did the same thing with other friends I met on my server + in battlegrounds.

Why should I be looking for another community when there's already the one I was looking for?

ii. When did YOU start twinking?!

2011.

iii. What is/was YOUR favorite xpac?!

Cataclysm of course, because this is how all started for me.

From 2011/2012 to today! :p
