Why Do You Play?

I would like to think "for fun" is a given, but that might not be the case.

What's the thing that makes you want to play, other than fun?

Is it to win? The challenge? The grind? The burning rage that keeps you going? Who knows!

For me, it's all about the team. I've never been a very competitive person, that doesn't mean I don't become invested in winning or losing. It's just I've always saw myself caring more about winning cause my team, my friends cared. It was more important to them than to me, but that made it important to me.

I always try to heal certain friends cause I know if they die too often they will quit. Others lose heart easily, I try to remind them we can win still. Some of my friends are more the positive crowd and very much the "go team!" types, so naturally they help a lot. Everyone eventually loses heart though and/or wants to give up, and needs to be reminded that it's not over yet! When I find myself in the same situation as my friends, usually someone says or does something that makes me change my way of thinking. That is what a team is all about. Teamwork.

...

Okay, that sounds really fluffy and feel goody but it's true.

It's a feeling of being apart of something, I guess. It's a feeling of knowing you're looking out for each other. It's a feeling of synergy. It's pretty awesome.

That is what I love about PvP though. The team, sharing the feeling of a win or loss together with friends. For me, that means experiencing how important something that isn't all that important to me, is to my friends. A really good team, is one that wins together and loses together. There's no finger pointing or blame being thrown around. They share the great moments and the not-so-great moments together.

Lastly, they share in the idea that "it's not our fault we just lost that game".

I play because I'm a nerd

I like the competitive moments whether the game as a whole was competitive or I manage to kill a 24 solo during a farm fest. Either way I enjoy finding the competition where ever its at. Its how I unwind and relax from the real world. Unlike most people, I don't really play for the social aspect. I like to pug because I don't have to wait for anyone and I do my socializing not in wow, but irl. This isnt a bash against those who play with their friends here, thats all well and good, I just get my people time in face to face rather than behind a screen.

because I know i will get to kill low level healers(mainly druids, hpals and resto shamans ) , hunters and rogues

NOTHING is more satisfying than that. When I see the above classes my eyes turn bloodshot red and I think of only one thing that must be done. Exterminate the bracket scum, see how many I can take with me before I kick the bucket

I couldn't possibly sportsball irl, so I guess I like WoW and WSG in particular so much because it gives that kind of fun competitive feeling.

I am an achievement whore, kind of competition where I can shine without being angry all the time because of P2Ps having an advantage, because we have F2P only rankings.

I like collecting things, I collect mounts, pets, achievements, I like showing off... which makes me sound like a selfish little b**ch but it's true.

Last but not least: I love these swaggy moments, you know, when you just yell OUTPLAYED in front of computer, when you do a trickjump, steal flag just before efc gets there, fakecast, shadowmeld a cc...

I love talking with others on F2P addon. Thanks yasueh, that's the best thing ever.

Generally, I play to improve. I get a lot of enjoyment out of taking something raw and gradually making it better with time and effort. I am not particularly competitive in the traditional sense of wanting to win at any cost, moreso just wanting my character(s) to be as well-geared and well-played as possible.

I tend to prefer cooperation and completion over competition. This mindset made me more of a PvE player than a PvPer back in the day, and even now I probably spend more time on solo PvE activities like leveling, gearing, professions, mounts, pets, achievements, and transmog than I do actually playing PvP. Still, I would never want to bring my team down so I always make an effort to be a positive presence in the BGs I'm in, hopefully someone people would be glad to have on their team.

It's the teamplay for me too.

Also, I can't help but think that this could be a good thread to troll for recruits... XD

I'm all about life. Thanks for the memories. <3

At first, I tryed twinking as a p2p. I leveled my first toon a rogue to 85 in around 3 weeks, was 85 for a week or 2 then MoP came out. Got to 90 in 3.5 days and played for a few weeks. PvE was easy and I was okayish, but in PvP I was below average.

I think I only got a Naga mouse (12 button mouse) when I was 85, it was a lot to get used to in a short period of time. I was a clicker and had to break the habit. So I decided to level a twink to take more time to get used to all the buttons. I tryed twinking each bracket, moving up to the next bracket when I felt competent using all the abilitys. I think I only got to level 39, since I mainly was on my 90 rogue and didn't want to miss out on any gear for him.

I played for nearly 4 months and my acct was hacked, my best mate irl had just went to America so I had no clue how to get my acct back. So I quit and went back to cs 1.6 Kreedz/Bhop and started recording demos for Spanish XJ with a few mates.

When my mate returned from the US he helped me retrieve my WoW acct through making my trial acct. I didn't want to play end game again since I lost 6+ months of gearing, and I kept recording demos for S-XJ. Then my laptops 3 USB ports died and I could no longer record through frustration and played f2p. 1 USB port still works, sort of, it cuts in and out every couple of mins.

I enjoy the grind for gear and prefer f2p over p2p because there is more hope of becoming BiS. Every 2 months or so in end game, all your hard earned gear is obsolete. I love how the f2p's are able to beat p2p's if they use good strategy's. I love to be the underdog.

The main reason I play f2p is because there is more teamwork involved than other games I play. In CS almost everybody couldn't care less about objectives, and are only out for self glory.
