US why do 60s use crimson spinels over cardinal rubies?

i.e. delicate crimson spinel over delicate cardinal ruby. i hardly see any of the latter. is there a reason?

Cardinal Rubies were able to bought for Justice Points before but with the removal of Justice Points the only way to obtain Cardinal Rubies is to prospect ore or transmute them and the transmute has a 24 hour cooldown. Crimson Spinels on the other hand are obtained easiest from farming Sunwell trash.
