Why are there F2P members that don't use TI?

Well, at first, I pondered over this question. There's a lot of members of the community that don't use the website, and thus, miss out on little details about what could really make them shine, or sometimes rather large details.

They also miss out on events as such, but that's a whole different conversation that I might discuss later.

I don't have much time now to post, but I wanted to start this thread because of some personal accounts that I've seen happen.

Back to the question at hand: Why are there members of the Free to Play community that don't use TwinkInfo? The most basic answer would be that: Many of them don't know about it, it would seem. But even people that have asked me questions about the bracket before, and directed them here, still won't use the site.

Why would that be?

The most common answer I've gotten,(out of about 10-15 answers, I got this one at least 8), was that the posts seem to be full of fighting and trolling. This is true about any forum site though, so why would it be an issue here?

Because new members to the site are looking for relevant information? Because they can't seem to find that relevant information? Those are the thoughts I personally have, I just wanted to see if it was thought by anyone else out there, or if this was even a matter of thought to people. Having used this site myself for years(I didn't become a member until recently, jaja), I might be able to understand if the people are using it but just aren't members. And, also, if they don't even know about the site, because it isn't(at least for me), often at the type of a google search when I'm looking up things related to the topics on here.

I'm probably running on by now, so I'll stop typing.

Just wanted to see if there were any other known reasons why people don't use Twinkinfo, besides the ones I could think of.

Good day, and thank you if you read this post ~

I do run in to a lot of non-english players, and the language barrier is a huge one, that one I can understand for sure.

they are here they just lurkin'

most of the threads just end in useless banter anyway

See, I noted both of those points. That they may not be members of the site(or might not be signed in, don't know if I touched on that or not), and that the threads due to human nature wind up as arguments.

I guess I'm just a perfectionist though.

At least some people probably just have a much more casual approach to PvP than most of the threads here suggest they should. People who play for primarily pve, exploration, or minigame purposes are probably going to find the very pvp centric focus of this site either intimidating or irrelevant.

That'll be a minority though. I expect the two reasons you listed as being the most common though.

Hmmmm... maybe you could use this thread to find twinks that do have TI's but are very inactive or a different user name. Often times i find some pretty legit twinks i had no idea used twink info just by looking through peoples friends list.

Two of my favorite f2ps that don't use this site are Tashalah and Dagathorn, if either of them have an account on TI that's hidden in the realm of inactivity could somebody please let me know in a private message? Thanks :)

I can't speak for this site in it's current form, but I can say that when I owned the site, there were people that wouldn't visit the site just because I ran it. On the other hand, there are also people that don't visit because I don't own it anymore. I don't know if any of that factors in to the F2P crowd at all though because most of the people in the 2 categories I mentioned are P2P (or used to be).

I can also mention that some people don't register or login, they are just lurkers. To that point, when I ran this site, even though the forums were popping... 75% of the page views each day were not the forums. 75% of the page views were to the blog. When we had some great people posting guides, PTR info, etc on the blog, they were well read. Some of the major World of Warcraft media outlets read the blog and picked up some stories too.

Bottom line, forums are not for everyone.

Also, the forums look a whole lot less active at any one time, since they enacted the timeout thing — which I hate — even though I understand the reason why, But if you don't see your favorite member online, it might be because they CBA to login, and only do so to post.

Too many trolls on the forums, that's the main reason ppl neglect TI.

Sad thing is, there is a large amount of useful information around but with the amount of trolling and smartass acting, this useful information lost the spotlight.

But.. this will always happen in kindergarden and 90% of present day TI's population is kindergarden imo.

I agree with this 100%

Thank you all for posting replies, a lot of you thought outside of the box that I had.

As a person who digs through forums and their archives, I do occasionally forget there are people out there that don't like just reading through other peoples comments and information, so thank you for steering back in the direction of humanity.

I would also like to say though, that I would agree a lot of people get deterred from the site due to the way members react to posts in most situations.

Thank you again, for taking time to answer my questions.

Because they are lazy. Plain and simple. It's also why someone asks where an item drops as opposed to looking it up.

How many times has someone asked you "Hey, where did you get that?" and they start making pearls when you tell them "from Ashenvale" or "from a quest?" I would assume they have the internet and I would also hope that www.Google.com isn't foreign.

Asking someone "Is this item better?" is a different story. It's different because it's someone's opinion; these are not always based on fact but it gives someone a direction to start.

This is a site full of facts, for the most part. If you want the truth, philosophy is down the hall.
