It is the anonymity of the Internet that allows people to lash out when otherwise they would be afraid to do such a thing.
Take TI for example. Certainly, most of the people here would not talk in public the way they do.
In fact, studies have shown that people that spend an abhorrent amount of time lashing out at others on video games and in forums actually have their personalities skewed to be "meaner" in public than than they were before they were constantly on the Internet.
