That TI, now XPOff, can never be cured of the cancerous community and that I should give up hope immediately.

Assuming that TI, now XPOff, would be an actual tinkering information site instead of some mud throwing chat site.

It can be cured. It was actually pretty nice on XPoff for a few weeks untill TI was linked to here.
The "cure" would be a very painful process. Sooner or later the "cancerous" sections of the forum would need be "cut out" if XPoff were to choose to go that route. That is how one "cures" itself of "cancer". It gets rid of the elements that don't conform to the set criteria. Or those "elements" change to conform to the criteria set forth.
I wish we would. I don't think I am alone in that thought processing either.

Start tinking (didn't tink at the time, I was focused on endgame)
Get involved in the community.
Getting as much gf'd gear, enchants etc. as possible. And make sure that it is deemed legit, so that I can't lose it later on.
Getting as many cheap TCG tabards as possible.
Get into addons. (I am way too lazy to do it now, I feel like I was a bit more energitic back then)
Save BoE's (even if I don't intend to use them, so I can sell them later on).
Get established on both factions (I would always focus on one more than the other at the time).
And probably a lot of other things that I missed.
