what would you do with 232 millions $?

136 Bugatti Veyrons and 1 SSC Ultimate Aero. then the rest would go toward ongoing moonpie expenses.

ah... cars... I would buy a Porche 356 cabriolet 1100 or something... its very old and cost aroun 1-2 millions :)

company to invest in? wal-mart comes to mind. but $232 million will be enough for me - I don't want to risk losing it in some risky investment.

I would first spread high-speed internet across the land, mainly to the rural areas, suffering from the Satellite Internet syndrome is #1 cause of rage.

Secondly, I would help fund the creation of homeless shelters and rehabilitation shelters, to help those down on their luck >:3.

Finally, I would spread the rest of it to people who need it more than I do :D.

$232 million isn't enough for all that :p

And most homeless aren't down on their luck. They're either mentally insane and don't belong on their own or were too lazy to work full-time and pay their own way around. If you're a responsible person who got royally screwed over (rare but statistically happens) you can always bounce back. If you're lazy and get screwed over, you usually stay homeless because you're so extroverted that you don't even get a fast-food job where your uniform is provided and food is free or cheap. When I see homeless people with cardboard signs asking for hand-outs, I usually ignore them or hand out applications to nearby fast food restaurants (preferably Wendy's since I never eat there). Every time except once, the beggar yelled at me and threw it away. Those people deserve to be homeless.

well fuzzles, I gues you live in your own house, bought it with your own money, not staying at your parents.

In this case you are very succesfull...

depends on the country you live in, really

in the US, this is certainly the case

so do you mean that if your poor, it's your own fault?

I believe hes saying that most poor people just don't put forth the effort in trying to better their living conditions.

I myself believe this is mostly due to several factors which include; poor economical conditions, free hand outs(ie you will get more money from the goverment than you would working for minimual wage), and the overall laziness we have shown as a nation/race.

yeah, sure if you're really poor in the US it means that you're probably a lazy bum, but in other countries i can see if being poor meant you were unlucky with where you grew up and stuff.

A little off topic...

Never eat at Wendy's? What the hell is wrong with you, you can't go wrong with the 1000 calorie Baconator and a Medium / Large Chocolate Frosty... mmmm...... But you do make a good point about homeless, I heard as soon as you give them change it expands their lifetime. They will want more in a matter of seconds as they quickly digest the change.

(Southpark ftw)

Maybe so? But what would you rather do? Work your arse off for the rest of your life, be a stuck up person, and earn so much money, that nothing really has a value? No thanks. I'd rather have a fun job, less pay and more freedom and flexibility.

I work in retail, probably, one of the most stressful jobs you can do. I could work for a different retail company, and earn double what I earn, easily. I don't even get commission! Not that any of that actually bothers me. I enjoy my job, I enjoy the people I work with and I love the company I work for. Where I work, you actually need a decent amount of knowledge, selling skills etc.

With recession here aswell, finding a job is now even harder. Though, alot of people atm don't even bother to look for work, just live off our taxes!

Yea, sorry, maybe I was being a bit ethnocentric... there are a lot countries where poor/homeless is the majority.

In a country with a strong economy, which believe it or not still includes America, getting work is a matter of willingness. Anyone can work fast food. Anyone. It's a shitty job but there's nothing better for a homeless person - free or paid-for-with-your-next-paycheck uniform, free or cheap food, and plenty of hours. If you refuse to work a crappy job, then it's no one else's fault that you've got nothing and it certainly isn't anyone else's responsibility to give you shelter or food.

Maybe I'm an asshole but that's just what I believe. I actually have an adopted brother who I believe has fallen into a similar rut. He's been provided dozens of opportunities and charity from those who love him, including myself, and he has repeatedly rejected help or screwed the person over. I would probably let him stay at me and my roommate's house but everywhere he stays he brings in pot and worse things, regardless of what the owner says. He'll learn someday... he certainly hasn't yet, though.

I'll specify that I actually support the legalization of drugs and that I even occasionally use pot, but I won't risk getting kicked out of my awesome house and getting arrested for someone else's crime.

Anyway... South Park was right. Homeless people consume spare change and then.... only moments later, they have completely forgotten that anyone gave them change in the first place.

On the matter of "Anyone" getting a job, not that true, if you have a bad record (Assaults, Rape, etc.) lots of place will reject you. My friend's mom got rejected from a nursing job because she had assault on her record, even though she would never hurt anyone a guy made a false call, and yeah :\. I don't think McDonaldz would recruit a guy with no arms or legs either :\.

lol cptheal is right, but you can always find a job.

As a libertarian, I hold the same position as Glenn Beck: help the helpless, get out of the way of the capable, educate the clueless, and forget the lazy.

On the topic of disabled people, I would call some, but not all, of them helpless. If you're in a wheelchair, you can still work. Call centers will take you for example. The fact is that government aid produces dependency and destroys ambition - no one who goes on some form of government aid ever ends up producing their own wealth, which is the opposite of the stated goal of such programs.

I'm only bringing this up because the obvious socialist solution to poverty is redistribution of wealth through welfare-type programs.

I don t support the ideea that if a man is poor he must learn to work and you shouldn't care for him if he is a bumb.

Also I don t support the ideea that if someone raped or killed somebody else he must be rejected.

I don t accept this ideeas because if you want to be a good people you must help/forgive everybody no matter what they are(lazy, criminals). This is how I think. However I don t do anything for poors and stay away from criminals but I know that is wrong.

And about your adopted brother that is smocking pot... or what is he doing, mb he is doing this because he never had his own dad and mom and he always felt a little diffrent.

I once seen a short documentary from Canada at my school. It was about a brother who was looking for his sister.

The story was that the sister was black and her brothers and parents that adopted her were white. She didn't had too much problems with this but once , when he was a little older she asked her adoptive mother who were her parents.

Her adoptive mother told her that she was actually her mother.

The thing was that her mother was ... a slut and slept with some black guy and she get pregnand. Because of the neighbours she said that she was adopted...

The girl was so afected because of this lie that she left home forever.

We love our own person so much that we don t care if others suffer. So if we see a bumb on the street we say to us that it is his fault and we try to trick us not to feel bad because we didn t helped him. But we can t trick us.
