I still miss, and i dont like missing. im currently at 32 HR, and thats 5.37%. I believe that i have the special hit cap... but what exactly is the actual hit cap.

well, 5% is cap for every melee^^

it is the stylecap...you will still miss with whitehits.

30 +hit will gain you 5%

you can still miss with 5% if opponents have talents that make them less likely to be hit, or the random bit of defense gear. Also night elves get an inherent additional 2% chance to be missed.

24% to not miss with whitehits...but it is not viable to stack more than 5%...

as you have 32...you are horde with baelogs. as stated above NE have additional 2%.

always played alliance...is this capable?

Absolute maximum (without wearing [item]Mantle of Doan[/item] - hate how it looks!) is to spec 5/5 Precision and get this gear:

BoA Shoulders: 7 hit rating

Glove Enchant: 15 hit rating

Surefooted: 10 hit rating

[item]Lavishly Jeweled Ring[/item]: 2 hit rating

[item]Simple Pearl Ring[/item]: 4 hit rating

[item]Baelog's Shortbow[/item]: 7 hit rating

BoA Daggar: 3 hit rating

Total: 48 hit rating (8% hit).

Max Horde Side: 8% + 5% = 13% hit.

Max Alliance Side: 6.83% + 5% + 1% (Draenei Team Mate!) = 12.83% hit.

So it is impossible get white capped (24% required).

Correct, but to add to the information already posted...you will always have a 1% chance to miss no matter what, along with all the other things added...talents, racials, def.

Incorrect - you can hit cap MELEE special attacks with only 5% hit (apart from some talents / defence rating or if you're fighting Night Elves). SPELLS always have a 1% chance to be missed and thus it is useless to stack hit higher than 4% in most cases for casters.

Xailter, could you direct me to this information?

I have always been told everyone no matter the class have a 1% chance to miss

http://www.wowwiki.com/Hit_rating

"For example, once you reach or surpass the hit cap, you will never miss an attack against a raid boss unless you are under the effect of some debuff that reduces your hit chance."

http://www.wowwiki.com/Spell_hit

"With patch 3.0.2, spell hit is capped at 100%; with enough spell hit, it is possible to reach a state where it is impossible for your spells to miss."

It seems that my information is slight out of date in regards to the spell hit rating - you can now cap it at 5% (19 hit rating) for spells. The rest holds true though :)

Note: Undead rogue with 2/2 heightened senses has an 11% chance to resist shadow spells so you'd need ~42 hit rating as a lock to never have a fear resist against them :p Nerf! (Or ~30 hit rating if you have 3/3 supression).

no, melee have always been able to cap special attacks (5% against same lvl players/mobs)

casters used to always have an inherent 1% chance to miss, but they removed that with WotLK

as previously stated, its not wise to stack hit over 5% since that will cap specials, and you will never get the 24% to get hit capped for white attacks while duel wielding. even though some classes have talents to reduce chance to be hit, along with defense, and racials; its still not a good idea to get over 5%

also remember that your specials can still be dodged or parried once your hit capped, so if you want you can get expertise to reduce that too.

Interesting, hit has changed since I looked it up many moons ago.

hah yea i mean caster hit was relatively recent

but melee has always been able to hit the cap

Its possible to completely eliminate chance to miss
