What happened?

So here I am, sitting semi afk while looking at my hunter and pondering over what happened. I'm trying to get as many exalted reputations as possible on him, and while looking through my reputation tab i came across the Battleground Reputations. It just struck me that I'll most probably never get those done anymore, at least not while I'm level 70. This in return made me think of the brackets as they are right now, and I'm very confused.

What happened to the brackets? The majority of brackets are dead, and the brackets that are alive aren't so because of twinks. I'm going to put a bracket into the 'dead' category if you aren't able to get into a battleground through a queue up in the PvP part of the group finder.

10-19 - Alive somehow.
20-29 - Alive because of F2P
30-39 - Dead
40-49 - Dead
50-59 - Dead
60-69 - Dead
70-79 - Dead
80-89 - Dead
90-99 - Alive because of people who didn't buy WoD.

So when we look at this list, we'll notice that 10-19 is the only one that seems somewhat alive on its own, and both 20-29 and 90-99 is alive because there are none twinks that are a part of the group. So this leads to the question, what happened? Back in MoP the 70 bracket was one of the most lively around, 60 bracket popped once in a while (at least WSG/AB). Somehow during WoD these two brackets have disappeared completely.

It's also interesting if we take a look at the normal battlegrounds, that aren't on the XP-lock. 20-29 on alliance side takes 16+ minutes for me to enter in the middle of the day, and as you get higher level it gets even harder to actually enter a battleground. So not only are the twink brackets disappearing, but so are many of the normal brackets. I can't remember the last time i got into a 30-39, 40-49 or even 50-59 battleground in the open bracket.

So this leads us to the question, what did happen? Did people stop playing because of WoD? Did people stop twinking? There are always less people twinking at the start of an expansion because they play on their mains, but taking into consideration how little there is to do in WoD, how many complaints there have been about the expansion and that we're already quite far into it, you would wonder why aren't more twinks returning?

And then we get to the second question, what is going to happen to us now? Subscribers have been falling down in record time with WoD (they lost 3 million subscribers in Q1, that is 3 million subscribers in 3 months of WoD). Do you think we'll eventually see Blizzard removing the locked XP bracket as we lose more players?

So, what now?

Thank you for reading my post, please do add your own input.

Both 60-69(64) and 80-89(84) were active in MoP and 80-89(84) was very alive with twinks who used the MoP and cataclysm gear.

60-69 was never the same after Wotlk, but i did get games from solo queue in both Cataclysm and MoP. MoP also added the Black Market to the game which let people collect tier 3 again, causing more activity.

19 is alive because it was the twink bracket, none compared to it in size before or after xp locks, except 20-2(4)9

70 was more active in Cataclysm and MoP. I have no idea what happened in WoD. But it does look like 19 had the more stable community. Many people ended up twinking at 70 because the queues were very short, now it looks like most are gone.

people played at 70 for arena achis when they couldn't get them at endgame, when they went in wod people left.

the 3 million subscribes drop is mostly because of people running out of things to do in WoD pretty quickly
most of them being casual LFR/garrison players, some PvPers who dislike ashran, mythic guilds are still raiding, arena has some weekly streams, even in brazilian realms that 90% of the community focus on PvE

70-74 twinks, as well as 80-84 and 85-89 twinks pussied out due to the Stat crunch, and didn't feel so special since they weren't hitting 50-200k crits. When in fact, it pretty much fixed the 80-84 and 85-89 bracket, making harder to obtain epics, rather than boe blues, more superior. 70-74 people quit for no reason, when it pretty much widened the scope of bis gear and trinkets, where a ilvl 125 item could be better than a 164 because it had a certain proc or spare socket.

My only thoughts on this is blizzard should just combine the brackets (exp-on and exp-off)

That is all.

Might as well now with BG scaling and easily accessible heirlooms helping even out the so-called unfair advantage twinks have that prompted the separation in the first place.

as i said on another thread, ive been leveling 2 toons from like 25 to 60 only doing BGs, and there were toons geared enough to face twinks, i even saw a panda in greens, missing alot of item slots and using a shadowfang lol

Blizzard killed certain twinkle brackets with the removal of some important spells

Would love for 70s to come back
70s are active when we can get more alliance to que thats the main issue.... but skirmishes pop alot i believe.... it seems most brackets are horde heavy sadly besides 90-99

honestly with scaling now more than ever its more balanced and most people enchant their looms anyhow i dont see why it hurts
