So here I am, sitting semi afk while looking at my hunter and pondering over what happened. I'm trying to get as many exalted reputations as possible on him, and while looking through my reputation tab i came across the Battleground Reputations. It just struck me that I'll most probably never get those done anymore, at least not while I'm level 70. This in return made me think of the brackets as they are right now, and I'm very confused.
What happened to the brackets? The majority of brackets are dead, and the brackets that are alive aren't so because of twinks. I'm going to put a bracket into the 'dead' category if you aren't able to get into a battleground through a queue up in the PvP part of the group finder.
10-19 - Alive somehow.
20-29 - Alive because of F2P
30-39 - Dead
40-49 - Dead
50-59 - Dead
60-69 - Dead
70-79 - Dead
80-89 - Dead
90-99 - Alive because of people who didn't buy WoD.
So when we look at this list, we'll notice that 10-19 is the only one that seems somewhat alive on its own, and both 20-29 and 90-99 is alive because there are none twinks that are a part of the group. So this leads to the question, what happened? Back in MoP the 70 bracket was one of the most lively around, 60 bracket popped once in a while (at least WSG/AB). Somehow during WoD these two brackets have disappeared completely.
It's also interesting if we take a look at the normal battlegrounds, that aren't on the XP-lock. 20-29 on alliance side takes 16+ minutes for me to enter in the middle of the day, and as you get higher level it gets even harder to actually enter a battleground. So not only are the twink brackets disappearing, but so are many of the normal brackets. I can't remember the last time i got into a 30-39, 40-49 or even 50-59 battleground in the open bracket.
So this leads us to the question, what did happen? Did people stop playing because of WoD? Did people stop twinking? There are always less people twinking at the start of an expansion because they play on their mains, but taking into consideration how little there is to do in WoD, how many complaints there have been about the expansion and that we're already quite far into it, you would wonder why aren't more twinks returning?
And then we get to the second question, what is going to happen to us now? Subscribers have been falling down in record time with WoD (they lost 3 million subscribers in Q1, that is 3 million subscribers in 3 months of WoD). Do you think we'll eventually see Blizzard removing the locked XP bracket as we lose more players?
So, what now?
