What about the >>70<< bracket?

Kumo

OG
Not 70-79, the 70 bracket. Where you can still do rated arena and earn arena points for arena gear. You can buy s4 currently, all pieces, and you can even buy s5 gear if you wanted (although you obviously cannot wear at 70).

It seems that very few people are paying attention to this level of twinking when it literally has the potential of being the MOST interesting and unique bracket by far.

Blizzard is even reintroducing more 70 pvp gear vendors (the ones that have disappeared which sold s2/s3 set pieces and weapons) in 3.1.

I realize there are limitations in that the only real bg you sit on top of is AV, forcing you to fight 79s in the other bgs. However, considering the gear advantages you really do stand a chance against most 79s. So long as I don't have multiple hunters + rogues gunning for me simultaneously I often still end up in top 3 on the kbs with some of the best kill:death ratios in that bg (resilience is still quite strong and brutal gear can still cause a LOT of damage to 79s).

So, why haven't more of you considered this unique bracket of twinking? I really think you should! :D

Heya,

I think you answered your own question within your post:

I'm sure there are people enjoying the 60's and 70's arenas or AVs, but they are more than likely few and far between when compared to the x1-x9 BGs bracket twinks. I can't imagine how long one would have to wait for an arena game in that scenario, when most of us are waiting for a few minutes for a quick BG.

So my personal take is that it's too slow/inactive to interest twinks who are looking for regular action. But more power to those who are finding success and fun in that niche.

Couple things.

I have a S4 70 Warrior on my 'alt' account which isn't WotLK upgraded. A bro of mine has a S4 70 Paladin on an 'alt' account of his, also not WotLK upgraded. Sure we'd love to pain train these toons and keep them as twinks, but for what? We played them so much at 70 to get their ratings and gear that now we're bored of the same shit on them (arena). AV you say? Hardly entertaining. Never evenly matched. I'd love if we could use them in WSG / AB / EotS competitively, but a 70 in S4 stands no chance against a 79 in Northrend greens and dungeon blues. I cap out with 14k health on my warrior. Mages have more. And their burst makes my resilience nearly obsolete. Prepare for minimal damage with the level difference, too. I credit the fact that I do any damage to my 40+% crit chance.

I just don't feel 70s can hold their own in anything except for arenas and AV, and AV sucks and arena is a 'been there, done that' ground.

My buddy is in his s4 and at 78 17k hp and doesn't get killed by anything but twink hunters.

Best off getting s4/t6 combo for double set bonus :D

i actually thought about doing this with my priest who is 67 atm. not going to be permanent but hey i never got to do 2s with him like i wanted to.

I suppose it is entirely up the the battlegroup. Granted a lot of avs tend to be lopsided in Reckoning, I have had some truly epic battles in it. My favorite recent example is when the horde forced an alliance turtle between SH and SP gys. The battle literally waged on until the Alliance finally won through attrition with EXACTLY ONE reinforcement left! It was awesome. I suppose if you're not a fan of av you would be less interested in this idea of playing at 70 as well.

@ Velocemorte: I totally understand where you coming from with this. Actually much of my motivation for this is to play my 70s that were merely alts in tbc and barely made time to pvp with at all (most of them I literally just got to 70 and didn't do much else).

And when it comes to 70s fighting 79s I have also found that a warrior probably has the hardest time fighting higher levels (mine is in full brutal since he was my main in tbc). My newly geared mage however who's still missing some s4 pieces pretty much facerolls most 79s, including dks with twice my hp and have a natural 25% miss rate to all spells because of their high level. It actually is a lot of fun beating these guys up. :p But... not with a warrior, haha.

I guess the main concern I see is queue times. 70 rated 2v2 queue times are completely hit and miss during the day. However I have found around prime time (evenings) they range from instant to a few minutes. I have found some nights here and there where it seems as if no one is playing at all though which is annoying.

BG queues, more or less the same thing. In Reckoning, during the afternoon/night you get really quick queues, but try any other time of day and you get nothing. My main issue is that I have more time for my alts during off peak hours when there's not much to do on my 80 >.<

HOWEVER!!!!!

Blizzard IS currently working on cross-language battlegroups right now which Blizzard hopes will make queue times for everyone better by making battlegroups larger! So although queue times are a valid concern, they may not be for much longer.

Basically what you are all telling me though is that 70 twinking is a very niche preference. I suppose I could have guessed that though.

I appreciate all your responds. But I will ask you guys to reconsider that the 70 twinks are a lot of fun! The main issues really only are the queue times (which are being addressed) and the lack of participation (but this bracket is only a few months old and is bound to grow). Thank you all for your time.

I can't see cross-language battlegroups working at all... 90% of the idiots in most battlegrounds can't spell their own names let alone try and communicate in a different language...

On topic, I suppose I can see the attraction of the 70 Rated Arena, but since i've already experienced high rated arena at 70, I'd just get bored stiff, and I suspect alot of others would

I'm rolling 70's arena with partnered priest with 104 resilience and like 8600hp. I'm on a meta lock with close to 2,000 shadow buffed.

We're 1904 rated and can't gain more than 8 points a match, average is 3-6 points. We are currently on a 39 game winning streak. Every team we play is dual DPS.

I don't mind rounding out gear that I never got but this is really not that much fun.

I have recently updated my old level 70 warrior main with the latest enchants and i am pretty pleased with the results. I made him prot because that's finally a good for bgs. Lots of fun in 70 AV but also very viable in 70-79 WSG/AB/EotS. Granted most of the players there are levelling and not caring so much about the PVP stats of their gear but still most have more HP than me and have the advantage of not having a 10-20% miss rate. But really the misses are less worse than one would expect, i hardly notice them usually. And a shield reflect at the right time can give you a 4000 crit on some caster :D

What i was wondering: Are reflected spells against higher levels suffering from my bad hitrate? And do i have a less effective resilience against higher levels or does it only depend on MY level?

Do you have a source for that? If it's true that would really be great news.

yeah source on that one please? i want that merciless for my priest. looks BA

I have a full brutal rogue with veng weps, NO ONE i mean NO ONE can beat me 1v1 in this bracket. But it gets boring as hell since there is no competition and no active guild

I'm having fun in AV on my shaman, but Horde is often outnumbered in AV's. If I get a Disc Priest, I can completely ravage the opposite team, and take Balinda down with just the healer, but once the opposite team are tired of getting 1-shotted by chains, they make a collective effort to ensue I don't live to cast anything but Thunderstorm and a shock, unless of course I have a healer (curse you Death Grip!).

Depends on your class, i have yet to buy WotLK (various reasons) and have:

Season 3/4 tier 6 Sv hunter - who does very very very well in av (to the extent that I fairly often beat double second on damage charts or occasionally triple, but it gets boring fairly quickly. Arenas never pop, but other bgs are fun, most twink 79's are a serious uphill battle but anyone with normal level 70-79 leveling gear is fairly even (if they're 75+) and if find myself towards the top on ratio, KBs and damage done as well as being irritating to flag carriers and the like.

S3/s4 druid (resto) - pre 3.1 made me want to kill myself, post - it's rather fun though any 79 will drop you pretty fast, in AV you make a serious difference if its close.

s3/s4 warrior arms, in AV this can be very fun with bladestorm, and in the other bgs if your ignored you can output some very serious damage, but too squishy, the moment anyone decides i'm a nice target life becomes very very frustrating.

IMO Blizzard better made 11-20 / 21-30 / 31-40 / 41-50 / 51-60 / 61-70/71-80 brackets, way more balanced.

I have a geared 70 that pretty much vaporizes any class, its fun as hell.

[char=Anub%27arak]An%C3%ACmalmother[/char]

*riding crop lol

My 69 priest has been gathering the honor purchaseable pieces, when I get sick of AB, EotS, and WSG, I'll move her into the 70 bracket, try and find someone with decent gear to do arenas with, and work on arenas in that bracket.

ya my 70 warrior pretty much demolishes every single thing i encounter, only one full brutal rogue got close and one lvl 70 ret paly in full burt with the sunwell sword beat me(but he still had to use lay of hands).

rollling with 50% crit in zerg is just fun.

anyone know which battlegroup is heavy on 70 twinks though, my server has none and cyclone overall doesnt seem that prominent.
