warrior rage. changed as of 4.03

Ive always went with a fast OH for fast rage generation =O seems like i lucked out with it being documented now! :)

Both of you guys are completely missing the point. Rage is now NORMALIZED, meaning weapon speed does not effect the total amount of rage you get. Neither do critical strikes. the formula is now BASED on weapon speed, meaning the amount of rage given per swing increases the slower the weapon is. I was saying that a faster OH would give you rage more OFTEN but less of it, meaning it would be more predictable. By having two slow weapons at the same speed (dual shadowfangs), I get huge bursts of rage every 2.7 seconds. use two global cooldowns (1,5 seconds each), with that rage, rinse and repeat, increasing my burst potential.

Same thing applies to me, I duel wield Butcher's Slicers - 2.6 speed. This means both my weapons hit at the same time for instant, large rage gen. Great for burst.

In addition, having two weapons with the same speed increases likelihood of a double Crusader proc.

And to be honest . . . gives the illusion of extra burst with big white dmg coming every 2.6 sec.

You nailed it on the head Ladolce

You were right about how weapon damage doesnt scale into instants. I'm rethinking my weapons. might have to unbind one of these SFs and sell it... When i Attack a level one dummy, "melee", or white damage, is approxamitely 35% of my DPS. My miss chance will go up on a 19 target so it might actually be closer to a quarter of your damage in PvP. thats why its not worth it to gear hit after soft cap. but also the shadowbolt proc is about 1.2% DPS, and increases burst potential. as well as the 12 agility. And the speed on dual shadowfangs is definitely preferable to anything else. I'll keep doing some research.

faster OH would give you rage more OFTEN

Is the reason i would have reccomended it; in this day in age where burst is on top; and warriors losing utility; a constant supply of rage would be more useful to top up a rend , thunderclap, Piercing howl; whereas a slow wep would take time to land aswell as giving you a small burst opportunity; and if this burst doesnt cause pressure you have a long 2.6+ second wait to anything else.

Smaller more constant rage is what i would favour; but thats me, your all entitled to your opinions ^^

as you say, playstyle preference.

For sure for sure, I can see that Examiner. By the way, tried out Crusader / +15 strength. I like a lot, and will keep it as one of my gear sets for sure.

Yeah, the more we delve into this topic, the more it seems to come down to a personal preference sorta thing. I will say that there are a handful of classes I won't bother to Thunderclap (Healers, Warlocks, Mages . . .) and Rend and PHowl are just 10 rage, which is always available in the heat of battle. What I'm looking for is a big burst of rage so I can BT / HS one after the other. With a 3 second CD on each - a 2.6 weapon speed is perfect.

And I keep my hit rating high enough to ensure I GET that rage from my white dmg when I need it most. I only keep it at 11% to hit, but let me tell ya - that extra 4% above hard cap helps a ton.
