Thanks guys!

Fun tournament. For next time I think everyone would appreciate more detailed rules, and everybody needs to understand how the brackets work. Let me know if anybody spectating saw any improvements I could have made on my side.

Indeed great games, was fun to play with different comps. Although I do feel people need to at least know how double elimination works. So for those that were a bit salty last night without knowing rules I am linking how double elimination works.

Thanks again all! Great fun cannot wait to participate in future tourneys.

Something I wanted to highlight from rule book for the person who was who was doing the match making I think? He removed me from battle.net because he did not feel the rules were applied to him/her. Bearwolf I think.

"The championship finals of a double elimination tournament is usually set up to be a possible two games. The rationale is that since the tournament is indeed double elimination, it is unfair to have the W Bracket champion eliminated with its first loss. Therefore, while the W Bracket champion needs to beat the L Bracket champion only once to win the tournament, the L Bracket champion must beat the Winners' Bracket champion twice."

Yeah, there were many problems with rules and if rules were broken or not broken. Especially the double off-healer comps that created the most controversy. Hopefully sometime next week the rules will be more strict and explain better some of the issues.

So with the great games we had, there was a little controversy and some minor issues so we have established some new rules.

RULES:
Double elimination. No brewmasters, no ferals. One primary heal spec. No double classes unless speced differently. One Stealth class. No resto kitty dps unless you're counting that as your stealth class. One off healer maximum per team (ex.Disc Enhance Warrior) The second DPS cannot have any healing abilities. There are absolutely NO class/character/player changes of any kind permitted. If somebody has to go or is disconnected for more than 5 minutes, your team is disqualified. If a disconnection occurs that results in a loss, but is less than 5 minutes in duration, it is up to the captains to work out whether it stands or if the match should be replayed. If no solution can be found the situation will be reviewed by the spectator and tournament leaders per review of the stream. There are no Grand Finals (This is when the team coming out of the losers bracket has to beat the team from the winning bracket twice in a row in two series.) The final match will be best of 5 for the title.

ADDITIONAL NOTES/RULES:
We use Challonge.com to make brackets and they will be displayed throughout the duration of the tournament.
No double, triple, or infinity crusader procs are allowed. One weapon. One Proc.

We plan on hosting another tournament this upcoming week, the games tonight were a blast.
We are open to any viable help and suggestions made to the rules.

If there is something left out or there anything that needs to be added feel free to let me know and I will add them.

i have just one thing to say about that , this wouldn't be double elimination without the grand finals. Theres really no point to win all games just to lose the final most people will just want to go to loser bracet if thats the case to make it to finals and get the one victory they need. so double elimination is needed in finals as well to make it fair just FYI

I was going to say the exact same thing. So the tournament can end with the winning team losing one set and the second place team losing one set? There is a reason every tournament is set up with double elimination.

Yeah, I would have to agree with that. It isn't fair if the loser's bracket team beats the winner's bracket in one set of best 3 of 5 matches. Then there would be no real upper hand to the team coming from the winners bracket. Just my opinion on this matter.

In my opinion there is no need for the winner of the winner bracket to have an upper hand. Yes they did win all their games but in almost every sport there is a threshold for at least 1 lost, and the "upper hand" being mentioned by this double elimination is way too much of an advantage. At the end of the day a tournament of this magnitude must be simplistic as it can in nature and have a level playing field at the different levels including the finals.

One downside to that is that the winner of the losing bracket who went into the losing bracket without playing the winner of the winning bracket could actually be the best team in the series, even win the finals 3/5 games and still lose the tournament. The reason 5 games was chosen as the last set of rounds was because 5 rounds allows the teams to reset strategies and refocus, which is a fair determinant in the winning team. The winner of the winner bracket doesn't need a double elimination advantage, if they are the best team, simply put....they would win!!!
