Hello, im really interested to start playing wow again, but there are a few things I need to know about the 70 bracket, or generally every bracket.
1. Does rated arena or rbg work like back in the days?
2. Is mage still a good class for this bracket?
3. If rated arena is not working, what else can you do in this bracket?

All rated gameplay is maxlevel only now. Mage is still fotm @70. If you like casual pvp there are still skirmishes (with a "rated" skirmish ladder http://xpoff.com/wow-ladder/?name=&region=eu&level=70&realm=&pvp=2v2_SKIRMISH ) and random bgs. If you like competitive pvp you won't find it here. If you like pve there is an active community on argent dawn.

How does the rating system work at skirmish?

Skirms have hidden MMR which Blizzard stores, it works just like actual rating, you just can't see it in-game. Also there are very few active players so you don't really get the same satisfaction from getting ''high rating''
