Twink Fight Club or Twink School

Khaos

Dare to be Optimistic
I recently had this idea spurring that made me think that maybe people would be interested in teaching and learning. The school it self would be threw duels. The idea would be that a group of people would meet a few days a week at a specified time and location. Then they proceed to duel each other. Each dueler giving each other tips how they can beat them until they are playing the best they can against that particular player/class.

When talking this idea over with a friend of mine he said that it would be awesome to make it into a ladder kind of thing. And if someone wants to take this idea and make it into more of a competition there more than welcome. But me personally I would rather see this as a way to learn your class better. with enough interest People could greatly improve as they duel different kinds of players and class and learn common mistakes most people make while playing the classes.

Here is what I wrote down as a set of rules for my Own.

TWINK FIGHT CLUB

The Idea behind this dueling club will be to teach people what to do against certain classes you will face against.
As players improve we will progress to Arenas and 5v5 war games.

Rules

Only one duel at a time. (The point of this is for the group to identify the problem areas and work on them. If everyone is dueling they won’t be able to watch and help the duelers improve.)

There will be no bragging or speaking about the duels that happen during the club times outside club times (you can talk about the duels when the group is together during the duels but not later.)

You are expected to take Criticism when defeated, and make suggestions to the players you defeat. It goes for the other way around also. If the person that is defeated has suggestions to the player that won. The winner is expected to listen. (Just because you won does not mean you dueled perfectly)

In the event of winning the duel, some celebration is allowed to a point (Its good to be proud and confident, but no extreme unsportsmanlike conduct that would be considered rude.)

If the match is a draw (takes longer than 5 minutes) each player will give the other a suggestion on what they could have done to defeat them.

All duels will happen even if there is a imbalance of classes. (Example Warrior vs Hpally/Druid)

Players watching the duels are encouraged to couch the duelers.

THERE WILL BE NO TROLLING OR BASHING OF MEMBERS ABOUT EVENTS THAT HAPPEN DURING THE CLUB MEETINGS.

And finally and most importantly. Dont duel if your not having fun. Your not going to improve if your confidence is no where to be found. If your in a bad mood just don't come, it will only cause drama and the duels will suffer.

I want to get away from the fear of dueling. because often the repercussions of doing a duel means you will be trolled/bashed cause you loss to this or that player. I wanna provide a worry free environment where people want to learn not a epeen stroking flame fest. Any Ideas or Suggestions would greatly be welcomed. Feel free to PM me or reply in this thread

You obviously forgot the most important rule of them all..

Hahah! I thought about doing some quotes but felt to try and avoid.

Good idea... i would do arenas though. 19s duels are very imbalanced

I agree duels are very imbalanced, but doing arenas right from the get go wont make people realize the problem areas as you can in a way depend on someone else to carry your slack. As things progress I agree arenas would be great.

Hey good idea, not sure it will work for 19's. Not trying to completly destroy your idea but in all honesty there is no chance that a warrior (imo) could beat any healer just because they dont have the necesarry tools to do so, if this were a higher lvl bracket with more abilities for every class this would be totally worth it but sitting there casting slam and mortal strike for however long isnt gonna bring down a healer. Just some thoughts as to how preductive this might be, also the fact that you really cant control people flaming other people about losing since it happens almost every day, for a self example i always gloat when a good pug beats RT, however that doesnt meen were better and doesnt really contribute to the bracket just me being hot headed. As I said not trying to demoralize your idea i just think this would be better on a bracket thats higher lvl and not just a few abilities to maintain.

I do agree that some classes simply cannot defeat some other classes. Turning this into a competition is a bad idea as well in my opinion. The main issue here is can the community put aside their epeening in order to improve? I believe it simply cannot.

Since a lot of players are no longer queuing random battlegrounds (for obvious reasons) this could be a great idea to attempt to introduce into the community. This is also the opportune moment which is another thing going in favor. I would be more than glad to assist in this program taking place.

I really think people dont see the point of what Im trying to do here.....How are you going to learn to play your class. I admit there will always be class imbalances. Of course a Warrior will never beat any kind of healer doesnt mean he wont improve in your game play trying to beat unbeatable odds. When constantly dueling you begin to predict what players are going to do next thus translating into a team aspect. Making you a better player overall. Maybe I am hoping for the best. But hey a guy could hope and really try to improve the bracket. Guess for now I can just see if people wanna duel me and try to improve for myself instead of doing ti as a group.

Good idea, no need to make it a competition. As a shaman or holy paladin I'm never going to lose a duel unless a feral or boomkin get insane combos. Duels are excellent for learning and I often duel as enhance just to show people underpowered specs can win. :)

If anyone would like to duel (for fun!) add my btag Khaos#1278 and meet me at dalaran

good idea. as other people have said, the ladder idea is no good because it will just turn this into an epeen competition. the only problem is we would need skilled players to step up, and most of the skilled players are elitists who are too cool for the term constructive criticism. shame. anyways, count me in and good luck

I don't consider myself terrible by any means, I consider myself an above average skill level player, not a professional but almost there, though there's room for improvement obviously.

I might consider taking part of this when I finish my arms warrior. :D I like learning new PvP tricks, especially if it's game changing.

I have a suggestion if at all possible.

If this kicks up and becomes popular, would you consider wargame WSGs or small 5ishman premades and then talk about flaws in those games that could be worked on?

I'm sorry man but I don't think that many people would take this seriously, there are a lot of 19s that just can't get past their egos and promote themselves in vain but your idea to me is good, so people would learn near to perfection, how to fakecast every CC, how CC every fakecast, how to powershift correctly never being stuck at all, how to do all the jumps(and innovate more) & strafe, absolute map awareness etc(I know some of these are WSG things but a lot of people can't do most of these things if any)

trial you have the exact idea and we dont need alot, just a few that is interested in learning.

Anyone interested in doing duels in a group send me a PM I am going to figure out what night of the week will work forr everyone and go from there.

Re: Off topic things

You obviously forgot the most important rule of them all..

SHHHH~

OT, This actually sounds quite similar to the 'dueling events' me and a friend host @ 70-74, every other week. I approve of it, not only are players finding themselves competition and learning from each other, but it serves as a nice attraction for whichever bracket it's hosted on.

instead of duels make it little mirror comp arenas or just arenas in general just a CLUB rule of no one boasts/brags about wins outside the club.... death will be the penalty for those who refuse ....

Ive already answered this suggestion before, arenas would be a great thing to get to but at first Duels I believe would be the best choice. The idea of Arenas to people who dont play arena is kind of scary because no only do you let yourself down when you dont preform you let down a team mate. as people Progress I will urge for people to move to arenas as there skill will develop the result.
