Top 29 rogue race

OG
So I am rolling a 29 and can't seem to decide what race to roll..

I've come to the conclusion that humans and night elfs are top because of the dual trinkets, extra vanish, and base agility.

Could anyone confirm which of these classes would be best to roll after the changes in the previous patches?

Thanks.

For me Gnomes are the best on the alliance side. Having smaller character models is one part of it. Their racial escape does not share cooldown with the insignia unlike the human racial escape. This gives them the ability to basically break through a series of slows. Engineering plus can actually make a difference at 29 while also giving you extra items to make lulz with.

Second best would be a hard pick. Between Human and Nightelf I would give the edge to NE because of shadowmeld. The perception Human racial had been changed otherwise it would go to Human. Shadowmeld gives NE a double escape with the insignia as well as having some other percentage passives. I don't think that the plus sword on Humans comes into account because I think all rogues in 29 should have builds based around BS or Ambush.

humans and nightelves are great for dueling.

i would personally say that nightelves are overall best because the shadowmeld gets aggro off of pets and provides a ghetto vanish.

humans have a quick trinket as well as perception. however i'm not sure if the swords skill actually works in wsg/arena as having a low weapon skill in bgs doesn't seem to matter.

gnomes do have escape artist which can be nice and they have 240 engineering which gets them a couple of different uses (idk what though :p). as nicke said escape artist can be used with insignia which can allow for great chasing and flag carrying abilities, but they aren't great overall imo.

dwarves used to be good until the stoneform nerf. now i'd say they're worst overall for alliance.

Definately Night Elves. Why?

* Shadowmeld

- Free Vanish

- For losing pet agrro

- Getting a free bandage in

- to annoy your opponents?

- If you're still waiting on that 10 second cooldown on stealth and you really need to go take a piss in the middle of a battle... use shadowmeld and walk away? ... win.

NE's or Gtfo

shadow meld has a 2 min CD...most people wont let you get a bandage in, doesnt always remove per aggro and most of the time it keeps you in combat even if you are shadowmelded so its not a free vanish

Then you're not using it right? lol?

i have so far played all races of rogues in low level PVP, except dwarves and orcs.

humans and NE are the top rogues hands down, especially in one vs one combat against other rogues. +1 stealth detect HU and +1 stealth passive NE

(assumed unoffically since blizz has never annouced the amount)

i just made the 19 HU rogue with EMFH being usable every 2 minutes, she rocks as a FC. also all the horde rogues are so easy to pick up and get the opener on.....it's not even funny.

i have a NE in work, SM is a fight turner, even when facing HU rogues. having the ability to break combat, snares, faerie fire, etc, makes their racial a "i win button". it allows one to get in 2-3 hits before they reaquire you.

btw, i have a 70 gnome rogue with impressive PVP history, after WOLTK, IMO....worthless to the point i will never take that player to 80, and since it was my only 70 will not load WOTLK on my alliance account till i have a HU/NE rogue at 70 which will not happen any time soon.

with all the classes having extensive slows and repeat rooting effects the value of escape artist is short lived.

Trolls because they're sexy.

end of argument

it doesnt break faerie fire >.>

yes it does, it was a added feature in 3.0.8 patch.

blizz stated: Shadowmeld: This ability will now properly restore threat when it is cancelled. In addition, it will correctly remove a player from combat if it is active when that player is the last person left alive that the creature hates. This ability is now also unusable while affected by Faerie Fire.

if this was removed again i missed it? anyway i play a 39 tauren druid, when i faerie fire a NE they can basicly vanish, any other class cannot not vanish under faerie frie. so imo it breaks faerie fire.

in top end brackets NE rogues needing to stealth under heavy combat in BGs, hit CoS to remove all the dots, SM to break the FF, then transfer to stealth.
