Second obvious answer: I haven't watched Borat in too long. I should get on that.

This is why i no longer play WoW, it saddens me that i even wasted my time on AP.
If i ever were to play wow again (besides messing around on the PTR) I'd re-roll on a no name server and just do some good old fashion PvE for vanity pets

I'm a Moon Guardian F2P, and I was going to go Aerie Peak Horde for a bit, but I don't know if I want to go anymore. I made a character there a few days ago and the same thing happened. I just wanted to test the community there.
I saw some "famous" TI people troll people as well, and I wasn't pleased. I want a good Horde community, and Aerie Peak seems to be the ONLY Horde community on the US. I might just stay Alliance after what I saw, unless you guys step up your act.
I am an open minded person, and I am okay with alot of chat and alot of subjects, some being crude, but insults and trolls and religion/politics flying about in chat discourages me, and many other players, to join your community. I may try again, but if I see too much more of this crap, I'm hunting all APs down in the Gulch on my feral. <3
I apologize for participating in it at all, it got pretty out of hand.
So stop! One of the greatest parts of f2p is being killed .
I didn't log on this afternoon cuse I didn't want the drama. If the new people want to kill AP just do it. All I can say is fuck you..
hanir is best
While I'm happy to say I haven't witnessed anything to the degree you describe in the OP, I have however seen a lot of petty things that frankly don't belong in the F2P chat. If you have an issue with the way someone is geared (not that it should matter to you anyways) or how a duel was played out (countless times I've seen hunter vs hunter flame), take it to whispers. Nobody in chat needs to hear it, not to mention it doesn't take long for other people to get dragged into it, and things get nasty.
I'll admit I've had twitchy moments in the past where a ban would have seemed justified, when I held the all-powerful moderator status on AP (simply for having created a toon months before I brought it into use). However, having co-led a guild at one time, I realise the dangers of swinging the ban hammer, and sometimes it's your own fingers that get crushed. I think a better idea would be to establish guidelines for behaviour in the chat. This is purely an idea, but the following might do some good. Again, just my thoughts.
1) Establishing a group of players to field concerns from other players. I'm not talking an Aerie Peak gestapo, but rather dedicated individuals on the server who can take into consideration concerns that players have about the conduct of individuals. The roles of those volunteering would be similar to guild officers.
2) Issuing warnings - if a player in the AP chat is being offensive, abusive, racist, etc., take a screenshot(s) of the event to document it, and send it to one of the "officers". The officers could then give the player in question an opportunity to explain themselves, and give them a warning, that upon the next incident, a ban will be issued.
3) If a player continues to misuse the F2P chat, they will be banned.
I know this is a very rough idea, and I'm sure it will have some critics, but I'd like to gauge some opinions on it.
Yde, stop making sense. You're not allowed to it.How about everyone just try to stick to this:
1. Try not to insult or offend people. Joking is fine, but if someone feels insulted or offended, and you are asked to stop, stop.
2. Try not to argue excessively in chat. Discussion is fine, but if people start to feel annoyed, and you are asked to take it to whispers, take it to whispers. If several people are involved just meet up and take it to /s.
3. Gear is hard to come by with our inability to trade. If you run a dungeon with someone from the community, don't need on BiS gear for their class, unless it's also BiS for you.
4. Be nice to new people and people asking questions. If you have a moment to spare, answer them or direct them to wowhead and TI.
