Kale said he was going to attempt a name change via the old way (where you delete your toon, make a new toon same name on same server, request a restore of old toon, name is taken, must get new name). He said if it didn't work, oh well.

BTW, don't know how to send PM because looked through all my settings and don't see how to turn it on. Sorry for starting new thread about locked thread.
 
I was in fact happy to see a not-deleted Kale in a BG just now, as even though I'm pretty new to TI, I would think it regrettable if Aradiel were to grow bored of WoW and the forum.

I find his posts here to be the most consistently helpful, correct, objective and among the least conflict instigating on the forums, regardless of what others sometimes make of them.
 
Blizzard changed its policy to not let you pick a new name for your old toon not too long ago (maybe a year) - because way too many people were abusing the toon restoration process in order to get free name changes.

When they restore your toon, your new lowbie toon will be flagged for the name change, not your main.

Oh, that makes sense! I remember him mentioning wanting to rename his toon.

Glad to hear it. It would have sucked to seen all of his effort in building up Kale lost :/


edit: boa are just gear... easily replaced.

edit edit: Kale, if you want to try a delete and then have someone else reserve "Kale" on Dreadmaul, maybe they'll flag your restored character for a rename. PM me if you want to try that.

Why do people make an effort to make him afk?

what did he do to make some members of the community have an inclination to not like Kale?

Kale is a friendly ret paladin @ Dreadmaul
He AFKs out of any game for any reason he feels like. If it gets boring he just leaves. While the way we see it is that killing Kale makes him AFK, it's more like killing Kale makes him realize how shit his team is and he no longer wants to play, so he often AFKs out when we focus him or in similar situations. We make an effort to AFK him out of every game because it's fun, nothing else. We do not dislike Kale. In fact, Kale is like an extra objective in AB or WSG; one might say that he adds an extra element of fun. For this, we love Kale.

I kinda disagree and also disagree that the thread was locked. He has more achievements than any other f2p toon. If I want to see if I can do an achievement, I go to his or Lofi's armory. If they don't have it, there's slightly more than zero chance that I'll get it.

His armory is a reference source. It provides insight and its relevant to the community. No one is saying "don't discuss wowwiki.com on this forum because we should figure it out ourselves."

Always about the achievement points. Why can't it be about skill or because they are a very nice person? I've only ever faced Lecavalier on his ally priest, but I can tell you he is very skilled at what he does. For that, he got my respect. Same with Kale; only ever faced him one time, and in that game he did eventually afk out, but he destroyed two of our healers with two rogues on him. I realize I (and my opinion,) don't matter in this community, but to me, skill is more important to me than achieves, since a lot of the people who have that many either have a p2p to carry them, or they know one. While I can respect that they have stuck with that one toon for that long, I think there are better things to look for in a player.

My 2c. I also think this thread will be locked eventually.

...his armory is relevant because of the achievement points so yes, the discussion is about achievements. I agree with both you and will...but skill is a different conversation and that's not why i believe his armory is relevant.

It was locked because "threads about Kale always turn into a flame war", which was NOT my intent but it was already happening in that thread. So I understood the reason for the lock.

With regards to Kale, he is a regular in this forum and I don't see why discussions between and about forum members should be automatically locked unless they are flame wars.

And like someone else pointed out, he has more achievement points than any other F2P so that makes him sort of a minor celebrity here whether that was his intent or not. The same goes for Lofi. I like to occasionally look at their achievements to get an idea of what I am still missing.
