Tips for farming crafting materials.

  • First off, I'd like to bring up the personal reason I brought this up. I was recently farming up the materials for several months worth of each Darkmoon Faire monthly profession quest, and decided to Google search farming spots. A lot of the ones that I found just weren't very viable during peak play hours, due to players questing, or the pay out just wasn't what I was looking for. So I started asking around, seeing other players thoughts on this issue.

So here's me asking for people to share their personal favorite farming spots, basically for any crafting profession for F2P's.

I really want to hear what people can come up with, mainly because I'm lazy, and don't want to type out a true "Guide" for farming for each level of material.

    Cheers!

if you roll panda do all your professions before you level out . the node respawn time is like 45 sec and you can ding your way to 20 from simply mining and herring super quick (or Bøtting it over night with a key spammer)

if your not a panda then for horde i usually do mining just north of razor hill in that cave . just do it between ques and what not.
skinning i do it on the boars then outside crossroads then in wc.

herbalism is silver pine then hilsbrad all day longggg

For mining (Horde), I just go back and forth between the two caves in Durotar, usually starting with the cave north of Razor Hill, then hitting up the harpy canyons outside of that. After that area, I move to the burning blade cave where ten Kor'Kron are fighting 1 level 9 mob endlessly. Rinse and repeat, if nobody else is farming, the respawn is consistant by the time you switch caves.

Food buffs Alliance: buy this recipe Recipe: Seasoned Wolf Kabob - Item - World of Warcraft at the top floor of the same building cooking trainer is in stormwind then go to duskwood and farm these mobbs Black Ravager - NPC - World of Warcraft the mobbs are lvl 23 or something so they're not the fastest to kill, but they got high drop chance on the meat, and 2 meat can make 3 buffs.

Food buffs Horde: buy this recipe Recipe: Curiously Tasty Omelet - Item - World of Warcraft in Gromgal near FP, you can take a boat there from org. Then farm these mobbs Sunscale Ravager - NPC - World of Warcraft near ratchet. They are lvl 15-16 so they're easy to kill, especielly if you have AOE abilities since they're usually in packs, and the drop rate on the eggs are decent. These mobbs, and the mobbs near them are also great for skinning once you've hit 75 from the pigs outside orgrimmar.

Herbalism horde: trisfal glades is a great spot to lvl from 1-75 especially around the cliffs on the top left. For swiftthistle, briarthorn, and mageroyal hillsbrad foothills is really good, especielly near the water at the top of the zone. Move inbetween "misty shore" and "strahnbrad" keep in mind that all the herbs relevant to f2p can be pickt up with lvl 1 in herbalism, I use to take advantage of that fact by sometimes dropping herbalism when my bags were full of herbs I didn't need for alchemy, then picking up inscription to make scroll buffs and then picking up herbalism again.

Skinning - The farms south of Goldshire. Instant respawns and level 6 or so for easy easy easy kills. If you have dots it makes it even easier. This might be busy but if you really want, you can skin other people's kill. There are two farms also. Otherwise the surrounding Elwynn Forest is good.

Mining - Running along the river lines in Darkshore is perfect. Bunch of nodes and its only by the river. There are a decent amount of mobs but usually easy to avoid. As a plus some have cooking ingredients. I assume it can be busy but not for me yet. Alterac Valley in Hillsbrad for tin. Fairly time consuming because of the mobs.

Cooking - Follow the guidelines above about getting the recipe in Stormwind but get the Murloc Fin Soup. Then go right outside Goldshire to the East. Don't drop it a lot but there are instant respawns and low level mobs for easy kills. Can be busy but not for me yet.
