As a dyslexic who didn't learn to read and write on grade level till 8th grade, WoW did a lot for me. I am now comfortable reading texts as complex as The Archaeology of Knowledge by Foucault, and Critique of Pure Reason by Kant, along with being able too type around 150 WPM with 99% accuracy and write a research paper, a lot of my proficiency in these areas is largely due to the ridiculous amount of time I played WoW in High school, I would not be as good at essential things like reading, writing, and typing if it where not for World of Warcraft.
Also WoW kept me away from the path some of my friends went down, while we where in high school, we would smoke weed, and drink, but while my friends started experimenting with pills, and other hard drugs, I was playing WoW. One of my best childhood friends died from a heroin OD about a month after graduation, we stopped hanging out outside of school around the time I started playing WoW.
