Intro
The bracket is booming, i've been hearing a lot lately about how the 24s bracket is reminiscent of the "Old 19s" and I happen to agree with this sentiment, but that is not the point of this post. The actual subject is -more broadly- about the health of the bracket. I'm going to Cover - as I said in the title- The Pug, The Premade, and Arathi Basin. However because we cannot expect everyone to automatically start queuing for AB, I'm going to mostly focus on Premades and AB.
Okay, I know what you are all thinking, - besides "This fucking guy talking about 19s again" - but more relevantly; why would anyone want to run a premade (or pug) in AB? When you have to get 5 more twinks than you would if you went with WSG. Well here's why you might want to reconsider the merit of such an outrageous claim.
Something New
Most twinks have been running WSG for at least a year, and maybe you have even thought of the fact that it's the same thing, over and over and over again, and how it might be nice to have something new, AB can offer that "something new" so instead of re-rolling a new class or server in search for something less routine. Que AB and WSG. The que times are a self-fulfilling prophecy. What I mean by that is this; AB hasn't really caught on in the 24s bracket yet, so we see the low que times on the rare occasion that we bother to take that extra 5 seconds to click a few more buttons, we que and say "I wish AB popped more often". There really is no more to speeding up AB ques than that, it's just 5 seconds.
Grave Yard Farming
Are you tired of getting face rolled? or maybe you que in groups so it doesn't happen that often, still, when it does, it tends to be worse because someone is looking to make a point. Twenty minutes of getting farmed is no fun for anyone, in fact 10 minutes sucks too, so the intelligent player see's a few options, log out, afk, or not rez, The problem is still that there is always going to be that guy who gets off on making the game utterly un-enjoyable for their competitors, that is an inescapable fact, and there is no good way to respond to getting GY farmed, except there is; instead of complaining, do something about it, que AB PUG or otherwise,it is much more difficult to GY farm in Arathi Basin than it is in Warsong Gulch and even when it does happen it is over significantly faster.
A challenge
Arathi Basin takes more; Strategy, and skill. It is far more difficult to maintain enough bases to win an AB than to play capture the flag in WGS.
Premades - 15v15
Rise above the rabble, demonstrate your skill on a map that actually offers a far more dynamic battle, you will have to adapt to new situations consistently throughout the battle, very much unlike WSG which is more of a steady stream of back and forth.
Also Consider this; three 5 mans on Alliance que for AB, and three 5 mans on Horde Que for AB, with the intent to face each other. No one ques in AB for 5 mans you will be able to fight your opponent without having to wait forever.
To Summarize
Our large player population gives us the ability to make this happen, I think it would be a great thing for the bracket and I am willing and able to help/organize/lead a cross realm team. At this time there are a few alliance guilds trying to put together a 10 man roster, and I am totally behind that. However, Horde can pull together a 15 man easily, but so can alliance - albeit not under the same guild tag- but does that really matter at this point? This would be more for fun than being about which team beat who, it would be a good way to spread the awareness of the enjoyment of competition throughout the 24s bracket. Not only that, if people are open to this idea, logistically speaking there could be a 15v15 some time within the next two weeks.
